so i’ve been eagerly lusting after the maggie sottero sally but really didn’t think i could have it since its an older dress but today i stumbled across a sample for only $100 !!!
the thing is, my wedding isn’t until next may. i know some brides have already bought their dresses for next year but my situation is a little… different.
i have recently lost ~80 pounds which currently puts me, dress size wise, somewhere between a 14 and 16. my assumption is that by next spring i will have lost at least another 50 pounds, probably more, putting me at ~ a size 8ish, maybe, but who knows. this dress is a size 10.
i personally feel, usually, like buying a dress that doesn’t fit you is crazy talk, but its just so very cheap, even if it never fits me quite right and i fall out of love with it, and i can’t resell it, i could just call the $100 a loss and not feel too bad about it. i’m having a super inner struggle right now. what do you think?
picture of the dress just for reference:

I don’t think that you’re crazy! If your budget allows you to blow $100 if it doesn’t work out, then go for it!

I don’t think you’re crazy either. For $100 and it being a dream dress it might be worth spending the money. Most dresses can be altered up or down two sizes too. And hey, if it doesn’t work out you could always try to sell it right?

$100?! Buy it. A dress can easily be altered to go a size down.

Get it! A size 10-8 is an easy fix with a seamstress. Beautiful dress, btw!

If you can afford to lose the $100 without any problems, get it!

Most Maggie dresses has a corset back, does this one? You may be able to add a panel if it was too small or it’s great to close tight if it’s a little roomy. If it doesn’t work out at all, and if you bought it for only $100 that’s not a big loss imo. You can always resell it… even if you take a $20 loss. Or you may even make money – you never know. Have you ever tried it on?
Also, bridal sizes are usually not always “street size”. You may be perfect for it if you are a street size 8 : ) Good luck!

@Mrs.Firefly1: i haven’t tried it on, but i love it so much. might look horrible on my body but, it might not. and i think 100 bucks is worth the risk.
it does have a corset!

@smitten_and_giddy: And I meant to say, congrats on your weight loss! It looks like an A-line dress, that shape is very flattering, it may just work out for you : ) Head out and try on a couple A-line dresses that are similiar to give you an idea perhaps.

I would just buy it! If it’s your dream dress and it’s $100, go for it! If it doesn’t work out, you could easily get that $100 back.

For 100, totally worth the risk. Even if you change your mind you can always sell it for that easy on CL.

first of all, congrats on the weight loss! That’s fantastic:D
Oh, and i would buy that dress…if it doesn’t work out it onlt cost a little bit of money and not a couple grand.
