So, I have decided to plan a wedding in 3 months. I’m getting married January 16, and started planning in mid October. (P.S. I’m not pregnant, I just want to get married so I can live with my man, and start our lives together.)
I’m planning the entire wedding, pretty much, by myself with a lot of criticizim from my family. My mother wants to go dress shopping with me and here in lies my problem. I’m unable to go dress shopping with my mom (and I have been informed today that my aunts, sisters, and possibly cousins will go with us as well… I’m thinking close to 10 people) until less than 1 month before my wedding.
I’m really nervous about this. What if I don’t find a dress, or they can’t make the alterations in time…then, I’m stuck without a dress. I’ve been to a David’s Bridal and was able to try on a couple dresses, so, atleast I know what looks good on; however, everything I tried on needs alterations of some kind.
Any ideas bees?

I think it should be fine. Do you know any other seamstresses? You might have to rush order, but you’ll be fine!

hmm.. IDK, I think the biggest issue would be ordering the dress, they can take a couple of months to come in. But like his barista said, if you could do a rush order??

It’s totally do-able, as long as you’re good at being decisive and don’t try to take on too many DIY projects. I’m sure the perfect dress will just fall into your lap.

I would want to have my dress figured out right away. If you aren’t buying off the rack, you’ll have a hard time getting a dress in time, even if you order now. Can you arrange to do something else special with your mom?

If you buy off the rack at DB they should be able to make alterations fairly quickly, but that only works if they have the dress you want in the color you want and close to your size in stock. I’d get the dress now… even if you’re buying off the rack, less than a month is cutting it really close and that’s not a good position to be in! You might have to do this one without your mom and others. Let them come in for a fitting with you, if they really want to be there for that.

I think it depends on how important finding “the perfect dress” is for you. I just got mine last weekend, and I knew I wanted something that I could take home right away and wear on the wedding day without any alterations or anything. I was able to find a dress I loved that fit these criteria. So it’s definitely possible to buy off-the-rack. But what if you find the perfect gown and it needs alterations or has to be ordered in the right size? That takes 6-8 weeks, so you would have to either give it up or start shopping earlier.
