    Solitaire all the way!

I have never seen a halo that didn’t detract from the center stone, unless the center stone is larger.  Like, over 3 carats.  It’s my personal taste. I get wanting more finger coverage, but I wouldn’t ever add a halo to get that.*

For some reason, whenever I look at a halo ring, I just look at the halo.  My eyes are drawn because its a sparkly outline.  I can’t really focus on the center diamond.  IMO, spending money on the center stone is almost pointless if I can’t focus on it.  Eh?

I have no issue with clusters etc, because they are just that.  Clusters.  Halos to me are too much of a weird middle ground.

This is clearly before I was married, but I have a 1.25 ct radiant.  I’m around a 6.25 finger.  I’ve been wearing my ring for over a year and it doesn’t feel small.  My wedding band is a full eternity that is essentially twice the thickness of my e-ring band (I think my e-ring band is 1.8mm?).  Paired with my eternity ring, I have quite enough glitz/finger coverage.  I’m actually happy I didn’t do a halo, because it would be too much for my taste with my matching band.

*I am aware my personal taste doesn’t meld with many other posters.  That’s cool and fine.  Don’t hate me.

I would go back to the solitaire. Especially if you’re going to add a diamond band. I think the combo of split shank with stones, halo, and diamond band would be confusing to the eye. What’s the focal point? Don’t get me wrong, it can be done beautifully but for me that would be more of a right hand thing. I get a bit traditional about bridal jewelry. I feel like it should be enduring and something you’ll love when you’re 20 or when you’re 60. I love halos now, but I didn’t a couple years ago and I don’t know if I will later. But hey, that’s just me. If you’re going to love bling your whole life then rock it!

carrotcake2003:  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could know what our tastes would be throughout our lives? I started with a very different ring than I have now so I definitely understand your current debate! I think I’ve finally found the combo that will make me happy for the long haul. Two diamond bands for daily wear and a moissanite solitaire for days I feel like being classically bridal.

I hope you can find what works for you soon!

carrotcake2003:  Thanks!  My point in posting my not so humble brag pic was to display how I think the side stones are a good compromise.  They are small enough to not detract the eye, IMO.

Your diamond looks like it’s really amazing quality.  I think a solitaire would really make you appreciate it even more!  Not that you don’t “appreciate” it, I meant more the beauty.

I am also more traditional/plain with jewelry, so just take that all as my two cents.  I would maybe get a halo around a gemstone as a RHR, but never bridal.

I LOVE your set. Love your halo!! I also have a split shank halo, and am planning on pairing with a plain band. I’m so glad I saw your pictures, both your rings are amazing together!!
