I am not doing STD but a STD pen sounds awesome.

I love pens, and I think its a STD that people would actually use.

Yea I spent way too much time on my Save-The-Date Cards – designed the magnet, rounded the corners, bought card stock to affix it to, hand wrote all the addresses… not one person mentioned them. I went for magnets because at least people would have to look at them all the time. Pens are a good idea but they might get lost or thrown out, and yea it will be much more expensive to send them than just a card. I thought it was a waste of time but it was fun!

Very creative idea, but a bit pricey.

Pens are tricky! The shipping alone would be one reason not to do them (I don’t know if you can just send it in an envelope, but it would probably cost more due to weight, if not for the bulkiness)

You can always save the pen as a favor if you would like. By The Way, I think that people really do like magnets or postcards, or whatever your STD is! People are just excited to be included. If you do something that if very you – people will love them.

I saw on Martha Stewart’s wedding website a slideshow of creative Save-The-Date Cards. You should look there for some inspiration.

I also love the idea of something practical as a STD, but I think the other PP’s were right, the added cost of shipping and customization might be pricey!

Martha had STD pencils, I thought they were adorable! Here’s another one with adorable STD pencil/message combos. Sooooooo cute.

Pens sound fun! People will eventually throw out the paper Save the Dates (like Christmas cards, etc… or at least put them in a memory box). But they will use the pen everyday until it runs out of ink or they lose it. Sounds good if you’re looking for something that doesn’t have a picture on it 🙂

I think it sounds fun! Plus a pen is functional, and I love functional stuff!

this would probaby be pricey too but what about little magnet memo pads with your name and date at the top? you know little pads that you write lists on.

i love those!

I love the pen idea! If you can make it work for your budget, go for it. We went for the basic magnet, but I love some of those other creative ideas — balloons, pencils, etc.

i know you can send pens through the mail in regular envelopes because i just did that for some of my clients at work around the holidays! just make sure you tape the edges where the paper could pucker. very cute idea!!
