Weddingobsessed:  I think you probably just need to give it a little more time to see what happens. I came off April 2014 after 8 years as well and my cycle is just now really beginning to regulate. I still have irregular cycles, but I may have before BCPs (I started at 17 so didn’t really track my cycles). I still don’t ovulate until around CD22. Are you tracking your other signs to see if you are presenting any other fertile signs (waking temp, cervical mucus, position of cervix)? I may give it a bit more time, but if you don’t ovulate in the next few weeks, see if they’ll get you an appointment to talk with your doc about this. Sorry this is happening!

I’m glad I’m not the only one in this boat! We are planning on TTC this summer, and I’m really glad I decided to go off the pill really early! I was on it 4 years and went off it 3 months ago – still no period.

I was also really hoping my sex drive and natural lubrication would come back as soon as I stopped the pill. Those both went out the door the second I started taking them. Honestly, my husband was just out of town for 9 days and during that whole time I never gave sex a thought.

So frustrating!

Especially frustrating because I have TWO friends that conceived literally DAYS after they stopped birth control. Jealous ๐Ÿ™

Weddingobsessed:  I understand the frustration. I’ve been working to lengthen my LP for months as we’re starting to TTC this month, and it’s still short (10 days average). I wasn’t able to tell this month because I was out of town over Christmas and missed 3 days of temping. When do you usually ovulate each month?

Weddingobsessed: I’m sorry, that has to be incredibly frustrating. I would make an appointment with a doc to talk about these issues. You may need some assistance to jump start ovulation. Good luck!

Weddingobsessed:  I’m sorry. ๐Ÿ™ I hope with time your body regulates. I really wish that they talked to women/teens before putting them on the pill to let them know what can happen when they eventually get off later. I know for some women things go right back to normal or after a few months, but I have heard several Bees say it took up to a year for their body to regulate after coming off. I hope things work out in the next few weeks.

Weddingobsessed:  I’m going to give it a couple more months before I go to the doctor since we aren’t TTC too too soon.  Glad to know there’s that option though.

UPDATE!

I finally went into the doctor after over 3 months without a period. With a blood test, I learned that my prolactin levels were WAY high (normal is <20, mine were 500). I’m not getting a period because my body thinks I’m supposed to be pregnant/lactating.

Bad news: it’s caused by a BRAIN TUMOR! Never expected to hear the doctor say that. He said it was fairly common- it’s a pituatary tumor that is benign and won’t require surgery, but is causing excess prolactin to be produced, lowering my estrogen.

So I need an MRI to determine it’s size, and will most likely be on medication for life. The good news is that it is very treatable, and my fertility should quickly return to normal. The bad news is that depending on it’s size, I may have to stay on the meds throughout pregnancy (the can grow during pregnancy and cause vision problems). Fetal effects of the meds are pretty much unknown. :/ So here’s to hoping it’s very small!

Worried, but relieved at the same time to know what’s going on! This also explains my total lack of sex drive the last few years, and my sucky peripheral vision. Both can return to normal once the tumor shrinks with the meds. Very hopeful for that!

So anyone else who’s out there missing periods who hasn’t been to the doctor yet- I’d say GO asap and get pituatary tumors and thyroid problems ruled out!

Another update on this old thread because I need to vent.

My MRI came back and my tumor is big. Even though my prolactin level has been in the normal range for 3 months (20), he increased my med dose to shrink it faster.

I STILL haven’t had a period, and feel horrible for my hubs because I’ve had zero libido as well. My endo has pretty much said he isn’t worried about dealing with any of this now… we’ll reassess in 6 months.

This just sucks because we were planning on conceiving this summer! I have also been reading
that it’s unsafe to get pregnant with a big tumor- because it may grow regardless of meds during pregnancy. Even if I get my period back, I have no idea how long it will take for this thing to shrink enough. I assume it’s YEARS. Another option is surgery but that’s a scary thought and who knows how much it will cost me. ๐Ÿ™

I’m thinking of going to an ob-gyn and seeing if I can get my estrogen levels worked out there.

How are you doing, Weddingobsessed? Did you figure things out??

Yep, pretty sucky situation. I also just learned that surgery is not an option for me because my tumor surrounds my carotid artery.

I hadn’t thought about adoption much, but that may end up being our only option. I’m seeing an ob-gyn next week to get all my hormone levels checked out.

Good luck to you. That must be so frustrating!
