Don’t panic!  We had an 18 month engagement, but we realy didn’t make any decisions until about 8 months before the wedding.  It turned out fine Smile

We have six months to go and so far we have:

My wedding band

And I have started collecting jewelry for my brooch bouquet.

Aaaaaand….that’s about it! I still can’t decide on color/theme/flowers/favors…..*sigh*

10 months out from our wedding I wasn’t even engaged yet 🙂

I’d say you have time, but you should probably think about booking your venue and photographer soon.

If you have decided on a venue I say go and and get it booked, if you know that’s the one you want there’s no point in delaying it, and after that you can relax a bit more. December and Christmas is a major slow down anyway, not much gets done during that period so you should be ok waiting til the new year.

And, planning a wedding is only as stressful as you let it be. If you’re openminded and don’t have your heart set on a lot of the ‘musts’ of the wedding industry you’ll be just fine.

I agree, you might want to book your venue soon, especially if it is a popular spot for weddings.  You’re not behind, but I wouldn’t put it off for too much longer.

I agree, you might want to get the main vendors in line soon.

And I don’t have a dress yet either, but I feel like the dress is the most salient thing for some people when they think wedding, so I’m constantly being asked about it too. And people are constantly surprised I don’t have one yet.

We have 8 months to go and I’m still looking for a reception venue and a wedding dress!  It’s a lot harder than I anticipated, so I suggest that you try to book your venue as early as possible.  But I see that you’re getting married on a Friday, so I imagine the venue search won’t be as hard! Good luck! I’m right there with you =)

Still waiting on my grand proposal, but we have already set the date for 09/10/11. So far I only have photographer, church, and reception hall booked. I’m trying to wait for everything else until he finally gets down on his knee! I think he know’s the suspense is killing me!!!! I think he may find it funny in a way to see how antsy he is making me too haha. But my MAIN reason for even booking what I have now, is bc this date is going to go quick for most vendors. Good luck though and try to prepare now so you aren’t cramming at the last minute and can actually enjoy your special day 🙂

@Leesh:  I planned our wedding in five months and it was perfect – you’re fine.

You should pick up “How to Plan a Surprisingly Dignified Wedding” by Miss Manners.  She has this great line that by the time you get engaged its already too late to plan a wedding.  Because, you know, that’s how the wedding industry makes you feel!
