Ok ladies, please tell me I’m not the only one who does this.
Every night when I get ready for bed, I don’t only wash my face and brush my teeth, etc…I also give my e-ring a good clean.
And yes…every night.
I plop my ring into my Conossieur jewelry cleaner, take it out, give it a good scrubbing with the brush and then plop it into some hot water for rinsing. Then I wipe it with the cleaning cloth and polish with the polishing cloth. Then I put it to bed, holding it with the polishing cloth, I make sure I don’t touch it with my fingers!
I think I’m nuts and obsessed with cleaning my ring! Fiance just shakes his head when I tell him how much I clean it etc. LOL!
And when I’m close to the jewelry store that Fiance bought my ring from, I stop by for a quick clean…even though I don’t need it!
How often do you beautiful ladies clean your rings? And how?

I clean mine every few days. Once a week she sits in a shot glass full of distilled white vinegar and then goes for a swim in the ultrasonic.

You aren’t nuts! It’s good to keep your ring clean. I clean mine every morning in the jewelry solution (ammonia solution) the store gave Fiance with my ring. I just let the ring soak in there while I brush my teeth (2 minutes), then blot it on a towel. My ring is a simple solitaire so I don’t need to get in there with a brush or anything though.

I clean mine once a week or whenever it needs it! It really depends on where I am going and if it needs it! I don’t think you are crazy! It is good to clean you ring in case you get something on it.

I think you’re nuts! But I was nuts too! When Fiance and I first got engaged, my ring got a bath every day. If not twice a day. I took it off to do anything.
Now that we’ve been engaged for over a year, I’ll clean it every week or so or when we’re going out somewhere nice. I still take it off to shower and sleep but aside from that it stays on my finger.

oh man, I clean mine every few months. Oops. But I’m also afraid of knocking a stone loose from cleaning, etc. so that’s one reason why I don’t.

@GroovyHippieChick: Oh I wish I had an ultrasonic! But thenm again, might not be such a good idea…I’d be using that baby everyday!
@Over the Moon: I have a simple solitaire too so i guess I don’t really need the brush hahahah!
@FutureBaker: I’m probably gonna end up easing up on the cleaning of my ring in a few months when the novelty of it being brand new wears off. also, when I get crazy busy preparing for my wedding, my e-ring won’t be the focus of all my attention!
@SweetVanity: LOL good to know I’m not the only one who was newly engaged and nuts! I’ll wait til it’s been a good few months or a yr that I’ve had my ring and see if I still clean it daily. Most likely will decrease by then!
@soyjoy222: Yeah I’ve heard that people get wary of cleaning their ring so often because of their setting and they’re scared to knock out a stone!

Absolutely not nuts, LOL. I love a good sparkly ring (drives me crazy when I see women in RL who have these amazing rings that don’t sparkle under the grime…I want to attack their hands with a squirt bottle and toothbrush!!) I’d be careful though, I’ve heard that cleaning a ring too frequently can actually wear away the metal. I don’t know how true this is, but it might be something to look into (especially if it’s white gold with the rhodium dipping and all of that). I had a diamond ring given to me by an ex and I lost a stone the very first time I cleaned it…so I’m crazy careful with my jewelry now. I soak mine about once a week in Dawn dish soap and hot (not too hot) water (I’ve heard this is the best for a CZ number like mine, but it makes my diamonds sparkle too), or if I get something on them. For the most part, washing my hands a zillion times a day keeps it looking good.

@MerryWidow: See, I was scared of my rhodium wearing away, so at times I do just dip my e-ring in hot water and then wipe it clean.
My co-worker has had her bands for more than 30 years and can’t even get them off her finger anymore. So you can imagine how dirty and grungy they were. Well, if I didn’t attack her bands with my Dazzle Stick! She couldn’t believe the difference after I cleaned and polished her rings! but her rings drove me CRAZY everytime I looked at them, that I had to clean them myself!

Fiance just bought me an ultrasonic cleaner and I am OBSESSED with it. I clean not only my e-ring but all my jewelry at least once a week. What can I say…I am a sucker for sparkly jewelry!
@Legallyblondiebride: I would probably be the exact same way!!! My e-ring is very simple so I gots to make it bling its little heart out!

wherrrrrrrrrre do you get an ultra sonic cleaner?? I SO want one of these for all my jewelry!! I can only imagine when I get my e-ring, how much I will want to keep it extra shiny and sparkly!

I had some issues with my ring right off the bat, so it was getting cleaned every time it went to the jewelers, but I did it for the first time at home today and I might get addicted myself. It’s soooo different when it’s freshly cleaned. I was distracted by it all day actually. I used a few drops of Shaklee Basic H in about 1/4 cup of water and soaked it about 4 times and scrubbed in between soaks. Mine is very intricate and has pave all down the sides, so it needed extra soaking time.

caution: I’d be careful cleaning with solvents every single day if you have rhodium plated rings.
I just run my ring & a toothbrush under hot water and scrub it once a week or so. it looks great and I don’t have to use any cleanser or anything.

I keep a soft toothbrush in the shower and scrub my ring every other day or so with the toothbrush and whatever suds are on my hands from the shower. When I get dressed I polish it with my fingers and a shirt sleeve or scarf or whatever I’m wearing haha.
