I think both locations are wonderful but provides two very different vibes. Personally, I can choose either one and be happy. For the rooftop, I will probably decorate it with an urban vibe while the courthouse garden is has more of a classic/formal feel about it.

My only concern for the rooftop is that i can see the streets from the rooftop, so you might be hearing traffic noise.

Don’t think you can go wrong either way, so just go with your gut feeling!

I’m considering the same location as location #1 for my wedding too. I’m really drawn to the the architecture and landscaping, and I think it would be the most effortless.

Perhaps you could do something like this for your ceremony http://santabarbarawedding.com/blog/?p=3165

I think both are beautiful but I kinda like the rooftop a little bit more. Just because I love the ocean and you can see it in the background. How many guest will you be having? The rooftop looks kinda small. Can it accomodate your guest list + caterer + dance floor, etc.

    hmm…tough choices huh?

How about this – fast forward 20 years, you and your family are takinga long weekend trip to Santa Barbara. Would you rather tell your kids (assuming you want children) that you got married at the historic Courthouse garden OR would you rather say that you got married with the gorgeous Pacific ocean behind you? Who’s to say that your future children/grandchildren wouldn’t pick the same location for their wedding!

    I’m a closet romantic afterall. 🙂

@Miss Brown Bear: We’re planning on having a semi elopement and having our immediate family in attendance and having an early dinner (bouchon maybe?). We’re planning to have an at home reception a few months later for the rest of our family and friends.

We never entertained the idea of a courthouse wedding, till we saw the santa barbara courthouse. Certainly Style Me Pretty, and Mrs.Mary Jane own courthouse house nuptials convinced us it was a good choice for us 🙂

Where is the rooftop? We’re getting married in the Mural Room next Spring.
