I’m only 9w 5d along and this is my first pregnancy. I don’t think I’m supposed to be showing already, but I have this tiny little “bump” and I’m not sure if it’s a baby bump or if it’s just a little chub that I put on since the cravings set in. It’s funny because depending on what it is, I’ll either be proud of it, or ashamed of it. Haha. What do you think?

I’m going with bloat. At 9 weeks, the baby is only the size of a grape π But many women do get that “bump/bloat” early on, especially with a first pregnancy and especially if they are tiny to start, which you are.

@Glasgowbound: Darn it! Oh well. I can’t really suck it in, so I guess I’ll just pretend I’m showing. π

@idoalterations: It’s bloat, but I still called it a baby bump because there is still a baby in there. My belly was very swollen at 6+ weeks. I didn’t feel bloated, but given how tiny baby is it makes snese that it is just bloat. I even lost a pound so I know it wasn’t from me stuffing my face, lol.
I think your bump is cute π

@Mrs. Gremmlin: Not all of us! I’m 9w4d and haven’t had any bloat. I kind of want a fake belly bump!

I mean it’s adorable, and totally bump-like, not like when I bloat and it’s all over gross-ness, so whatever it is, I vote that you should own it like it’s the baby!

It’s bloat, and doesn’t actually look like that much bloat.

I wouldn’t attribute it all to bloat, or call it a “fake” bump. While your baby is only the size of a grape, your uterus has now increased to the size of a grapefruit!
I call it a bump, not all bloat π

@urchin: That’s what I thought. I know it’s not the baby, but it could be my uterus all filled up with aminotic fluid and stuff.

I’m going with bloat. Your uterus has most likely not grown beyond your pubic bone at the point so it is probably not a bump.

Probably bloat since the uterus is still very low in your belly at this point, like maybe right above your public bone…unless you’re farther along than you thought or you’re carrying twins! You can look up fundal height to see where you are.
FWIW I didn’t get much bloat at all until I was about 11 weeks or so, but most people get it early on. I don’t see why you can’t be proud of it though. I still get bloated at 19 weeks. I definitely have a small bump in the AM but it’s much bigger at night due to eating and bloating throughout the day.

Likely bloat at this point, but go ahead and call it your bump if you want because we all know what’s causing it. You’re pregnant, congrats! There’s no reason to feel bad about it either way.
It probably won’t be an authentic/recognizable/full-fledged baby bump for another month or two, but it’s fun to watch it evolve throughout the pregnancy. Have a happy and healthy one!
