Am I the only one who doesn’t get excited about shoes? In fact, until we decided to get married in December, I was planning on walking down the aisle barefoot. I could still do this, of course, but I will need shoes of some sort for the rest of the day and I just don’t know what to do. I am not a big fan of heels, and I certainly do not want to spend a lot of money on a pair of shoes that I am never (or rarely) going to wear again…
I thought of ballet slippers, but I am not sure where to start looking for them. Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Ballet slippers are a good idea, but I think they tend to get quite dirty. What if you went with a cute kitten heel—very small heel. What colors are you using? What kind of dress are you wearing? Does it show your feet?

missrain — I am so with you! I’m getting married in January and when I told my mother I wanted to wear my UGGS (sooo comfortable) under my dress, I think she nearly fainted. I was mostly joking, I do plan to buy a nice pair of shoes, but I could really care less what they look like!! And I definitely will NOT wear a pair of shoes that are going to hurt my feet, no way, no how. Oh and I do plan to spend as much of the day in my uggs, no matter what she says!

You’re not alone! I briefly entertained wearing my Birks but everyone I told was horrified. So I’m just wearing some ballet flats. I’m not at all a fan of heels (I’m already 5’11”) and I wanted to have something I’d actually wear again to work or something. I spent VERY little time searching, and definitely don’t experience the shoe lust that a lot of people have, haha.

Funny you should write this post…I was thinking of doing it myself as I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with me. No offense to those who LOVE shoes, but I just don’t understand the fascination/obsession so many women have them. I too will either be wearing flats or maybe some cute sandals with an ankle or heel strap so they don’t fall off during the day. To me, it’s much more important to have my feet be comfortable and not in pain than it is to pay a lot of money for shoes that no one will see anyway because of my dress.
Maybe we should start a non-shoe-loving club??

You’re not the only one! I love looking at pretty shoes, but when it comes to what I’m actually going to put on my feet, I go for the practical choice over pretty every time!

I don’t swoon over shoes. I have a couple pairs of really nice shoes and I wear them whenever I get dressed up. I never really crave shoe shopping. For the wedding, I bought a pair of ballet flats to wear for most of the day, and I bought a pair of "fancy" shoes with some bling for pictures and walking down the aisle.
I love my ballet flats! I got the Dessy ones XD

My soon to be sister in law wore fuzzy slippers under her dress because you couldn’t see them. I have a short dress so I get to have pretty shoes, which is exciting to me because I’m normally a person who doesn’t swoon over shoes. If I’m going to be wearing pretty shoes, my wedding day’s the day to do it.

I’m not a shoe girl, though the more time I spend on Weddingbee, the more I’m liking them (!)…
But I found Fluevogs which are totally comfortable, edgy and fun. They made me happy and the shoe hunt was over!

Yay! I am so glad I am not alone. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of ballet flats. I’ll have to do some poking around and see what I can see.

I hate shoes! I wear sandals or clogs when it is warm and boots the rest of the year. I have a hellish boot collection – over thirty pairs and I love them all. I am totally uncomfortable in shoes, I think I MAY have 2 pairs. SO what am I wearing for the wedding? Why victorian-inspired wedding boots of course! Found mine on eBay for $20 and the kitten heels make them comfortable to walk in.

Nope. I hate shoes. I hate how much they cost, I hate how they squish my toes, hate ’em — I have big feet and I wear flip-flops as long as the weather/circumstances will allow. I found a pair of $70 ruby red Gianni Bini flats and wore those on my wedding day, and they were super-comfy. Problem solved.

Ballet flats are everywhere right now! You should have no problem finding them. I do have a friend who is wearing customized hightops with her dress, along with the rest of the maids. I think that’s odd, but she has big feet and those are the shoes she wears daily. She is kind of funky and this is the way she and her parents compromised on having a bit of flair in her look. However, she is wearing a long dress to cover said high tops…haha.

I with you guys. I love the way super cute heels look, but I know my body and I just do not do well in heels for a long period of time. Bad knees. 😛 I plan on dancing the night away and I don’t want to be miserable. So flats or the smallest of wedge sandles (we’re talking like a quarter inch here ^_^) and that’s it for me. Solidarity!

Well, I’m the hostess of the Shoe board, so you know I love them. 🙂
