I have been reading a lot of dress posts lately, I am picking up my dress tonight actually from alterations. I haven’t posted it and don’t plan on it until after my wedding. But this post isn’t actually about my dress directly. It’s about calling a dress “hershe”. Am i the only one that cringes a little everytime I see this?
example
“once I tried her on, I knew she was the one!”
whaaaaat?! that just sounds….. strange.. You tried HER on? O_o
I have only called my dress…well.. my dress.
Is this just a weddingbee thing? Am I the only crazy person who thinks it’s strange to refer to a dress as a “she”? 🙁

Yah, I find it kind of odd too. I just call mine an it. I did call my last car a she sometimes though, and her name was Eleanor. I have not yet named my new car so I call it an it.

@stardustintheeyes: This made me giggle! I don’t call my dress “her”, but I do call my car “her /she” so I guess I’m just as guilty!

I call my car a she (and she has a name lol). I guess if I were to assign a gender to a wedding dress iv would probably usually call it a she.

I mean it’s not something i actually get annoyed at or anything, I just think it’s weird!!! Like it just doesn’t sound right!
I tried her on
Im picking her up
I chose her
I knew she was the right one for me
when i put her on, it just felt like she was the one.
Am I the only one that thinks of creepy things like trying on a woman’s skin or something? like literally “trying her on”?!
It’s the strangest thing to me, the Bee is the only place I have seen it so far. But today I did a dress post overload and I noticed it.

I have never referred to my dress as “she”. Its an inanimate object, I think its really weird that so bees call their dress she or her. I absolutely love my dress, but its still an “it”.

I don’t call my dress “she” but I do call my ring “her.” Like…”Look at her, she’s so sparkly in the light! I love her babe!” or something. On the same token I can’t think of calling my dress she. That’s weird to me.
I think I have issues (I also call my car a her. She’s my bad luck black jellybean, lol).

@stardustintheeyes: I’m pretty sure my dress is male, so I call it “he,” or sometimes Roger.

My dress came with a ladies name so I was calling it that from the get go. It kind of stuck. Now I think it’s kinda funny.
I dont get why it would make someone cringe. But I probably have stranger pet peeves.
