for some people, me included, it does hurt. the speculum hurts, the swabbing hurts, all of it hurts.
that being said, i’d rather go to the gynecologist than go to the dentist. my dentist is the father of someone i went to high school with… and this guy is an ass. and his father isn’t much better.

@Stace126: Nah. The gyno doesn’t bug me at all. Dental procedures on the other hand…….forget about it.

I don’t mind it . It can be physically uncomfortable and boring but I am ok. I know my gyno since forever so that helps

Well, I’ve never seen a gyno. Never had to. But I don’t mind having smears and pap tests and things. I did when I was young, but now it’s just one of those things, plus the nurses always seem nice.

I would rather have my lady bits probed by the gyno everyday for the rest of my life than go to the dentist. I am not shy and I get waxed on the regular so plenty of people have seen my hoo ha. I know several people who are SO wierded out by the gyno and actually cry when then go. Seems strange but who am I to judge I cry at the dentist.

this! And I’ve had abnormal apps and coposcopies.

@Stace126: I don’t hate it, but I don’t look forward to it either. I’ve been going to the same gynaecologist for over 10 years, had abnormal paps, colposcopies, biopsies, LLETZ procedures, laparoscopy, insertion of Mirena….we’ve had quite a history! I trust my gynaecologist with my life, but I don’t get excited about going to see him. It’s just a necessary evil.

Not my favorite, but I don’t mind it. I mean, if I could do that instead of going to the dentist Iwould go every day. That is how much I loathe the dentist lol.

I don’t mind it and I’ve had abnormal paps before. It’s just a vagina. I don’t see the big deal.

@Stace126: I never minded it at all until my last exam when I bled everywhere… apparently that was just a freak thing and my doctor says I am fine but it hurt a lot and really disturbed me. I hope next time I can go back to being fine about it like I was before and you are now…

I have no problems with the doctor I go to now but the one before her was awful. The only problem I have with the visit is that the wait to see her takes forever, so I sit in her super-fancy office feeling like I’m at the most awkward job interview of my life. Once she shows up, though, it’s easy-peasy. We make jokes and small talk, and there isn’t any real discomfort.
Then again, the only doctor I hate is the dentist. I don’t mind shots or giving blood, and I quite like my GP, too. I actually use an urgent care as my GP because Fiance works there and they often lessen or waive my copay.

I have no problem with the gyno (whether it be female or male). It doesn’t hurt me physically and I’m not really embarressed by someone seeing the most *private* part of me…afterall they arre keeping it healthy 😉

By any chance was it near the date of your expected period? I once went too close to when my period was coming and I bled…ew.

I’ve never been bothered by going to the gyno. Had both male and female doctors and all kinds of uncomfortable procedures. It’s just one of those things I have to do. I have an anxiety disorder but going to the gyno isn’t a trigger. Other medical procedures give me anxiety attacks though.

Honestly can’t remember… so maybe!
