My Fiance, his family, and friends are all very big outdoor sportsmen. The one request he made with the wedding planning is that we not pick a date that will fall during any of the hunting seasons. I’m talking deer, bear, turkey, and rabbit so that takes up a good portion of the year.(I drew the line at fishing, lol!) I had to get the hunting guide from the state to see what the predicted dates would be for 2014. I gave him a couple of options and luckily he picked the date I really wanted! If that’s the only issue with the date we come across though I’ll be a very happy camper!
Are there any other Bees that have to factor hunting season in to their wedding plans?

Lol I didn’t have to face that, but I would have had it been around that time. We got married in the summer luckily when there isn’t much hunting going on. Had it been fall…oh yeah, I would have had to make sure deer hunting season was off limits!

My Dad farms, and I was told that I couldn’t have our wedding during planting or harvesting season, and deer hunting season! I totally understood, especially with the planting & harvesting, my Dad works 20 hour days during those times, but it is vital to his income!
And even though I don’t hunt, 1/2 of my family does, and it would have been way too much drama to even think about thsoe weekends!

@MelBan: I’ve already been notified that our kids will have to be planned around hunting seasion. Deer mostly, that’s what Fiance likes the best. Also pregnancy and kids are unpredictable, so it would be so hard to plan around everything!

Fiance origionally didn’t want to do Oct when he thought his team had a chance in the world series.

I had to plan around hunting season, and “alaska season” aka when FIs parents leave to go to alaska from May to hunting season (sept/oct) every year. They were pretty pissed when they had to fly back for their other sons wedding last year.

Haha, not hunting, but we did recently realize that our wedding is the same day as the college football national championship. My dad looked at me, dead serious, and said, “If [my team] is in the game, I’ll be leaving after the ceremony.”

Not so much hunting season for me since we wanted a summer wedding, but I did have to plan around planting and wheat harvest, as my family and Fiance farms, and around cattle shows. I grew up showing cattle and some of my Bridesmaid or Best Man still show. Ah the life of a farmer!

I was at my brother’s for his birthday one year and he was harassing his girlfriend that she didn’t get him a cake. When she said he didn’t even remember her birthday, he argud “yes I did, it’s June 17” Wrong! After about an hour of him guessing dates, I told her to join the club, I’m his sister and he doesn’t know mine. “I do too, it’s the same day dove season opens. ” Think of it this way, pick a date around hunting season and you’ll have an instant reminder. He’ll never forget your anniversary.

Not hunting season, but we had to factor in harvest. I wanted a September wedding, but there was absolutely no way a wedding during harvest season would fly when nearly all of my mom’s family are farmers. That said, I had to draw the line somewhere… there is ALWAYS something for farmers to be doing between March and November. Years ago, my grandpa nearly skipped my cousin’s wedding because it was a perfect day for spraying. (Thankfully Grandma talked him out of it).
