@allyfally:  So when are you deleting this “friend” from your FB and your life?

Wow. That’s ridiculous. I’m incredibly offended by what that man said. He is absolutely racist as is the woman who wrote the letter. End of story.

@Wonderstruck:  Disappointing? That may be your feelings, but not mine. I am commited to and content with my decision of posting a conversation about an issue (interracial dating) on my FB that I thought was important and that I have vested interest in. Futhermore, yes, I could have found something following those guidelines (because I read and study AA history, although psychology is my discipline), but I chose to share these particular letters becasue as I stated in my initial post I was pleased with the response and I stated why.

Also, we might as well agree to disagree because I do not and will not retract my statment. I have read both letters 3 times and I still stand behind my initial statements.

Have a great day!

@SnurfMurph86:  Seriously.

That’s gross. I just…WHO FUCKING CARES?! Date whomever you want, whether they be white, black, brown, blue, or orange. Just. Love. And keep your stupid judgement TO YOURSELF.

Wow. Off the wall. I’d just delete her off your friends list.

The article was horrible in all senses too. UGH! So sick and tired of ignorant people!

The post seems less about interracial dating and more about race-baiting.

Both sides of the letter were clearly racist. If you can’t see that from either side then you yourself are racist and ignorant to the fact.

@everyheart:  Interesting. However, I think a major part of enaging in conversations about interracial dating is the race issue and why people date outside of their race, so although you may see the comments as race-baiting, I see them as a direct result of some not all of the remarks/discussions that stem from a relationship type that some people in society deem as negative or abberant. So, I really think the focus is the interracial relationship and people’s preceptions of interracial dating which started these letters.

@FauxBoho:  Please do not attack other’s because they differ from your views. You have every right to share your thoughts and opinions, but name calling is not necessary.

@SimplyKia:  I agree with FauxBoho on this one. Both sides of the letter were so obviously racist, if you can’t see it you have a major blind spot.

@SimplyKia:  You say tomato, I say tomahto. The letters are still verbally attacking people of different races.

@SimplyKia:  Please point out where I attacked anyone? I was stating my opinion in the same way you were.

Yes, racist. Both sides of that article were gushing racism. Perhaps a black man and white woman date because they get along really well and like each other as individuals, not as stereotypical racial cutouts…

I’d defriend her on fb. That shit is just obnoxious.

@WinteryRose:  Or rather than be pissed that she can’t find a man of her race, she could open her mind to the possibility of dating a man of ANY race. I really think the “black marriage squeeze” is predicated on the racist assumption that you should date/marry within your race. Yes, it often happens that way, but it doesn’t HAVE to be that way.

@distracts:  Again, that is YOUR opinion. Thanks for letting me know, but again, I have my way of thinking and you have yours. I was not saying @Fauxboho was wrong for her opinions but to call people racist and ignorant for not agreeing with her is an ignorant action and statement.

I agree! This issue is so funny (odd funny, not ha-ha funny) to me, because most people I know are in interracial relationships.
