@GonnaBeMrsC:  I always wanted to wear a ball gown, since I knew it likely would be the only day of my life (excluding a costume party or theatrical production or something) on which I could get away with wearing one, especially since I was already a much older bride.  I also am plus size, and I found it very challenging to fit into the size 8 and 10 sample gowns that were available in ball gown and A-line styles; that would have been impossible in a more form-fitting style.

I think there is something so majestic and regal about ball gowns, and they are very bridal to me.  However, I have to say that, since joining WB and watching so many of these wedding shows AFTER I was already married, I have fallen in love with some beautiful fit-and-flare gowns, too! I only wish I had a chance to see them and try them on in a sample size that would have fit me so that I could have decided which style I really prefer.

ETA:  Just like compulady5, I ended up with a drop-waist A-line gown. It looked so much better on me than a full-blown, natural-waist ball gown.

I had an A-line… my friends convinved me to at least try a mermaid & a fit-n-flare and they did NOT look good on my body shape.  My hips are wide enough without needing to draw any additional attention to them!  I would probably have gone full on princess poofy ballgown if I’d had a more formal wedding though.

I had never really given much thought to dresses before getting engaged; but once I started looking, I realized I love ballgowns. Specifically, tulle ballgowns ๐Ÿ˜€

This is the dress I bought (didn’t realize how popular it really was!) It’s been months since I first tried it on and I haven’t seen it since, but I remember it just being so amazing. And looking amazing on me ๐Ÿ˜€
