lol

My mom fell in love with one and really wanted me to try it on, but the store had a size 2. I…. am not a size 2. She kept trying to get me to squeeze into it to see how it fit because she was sure I would love it.

This one: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_V-Neck-Satin-Corset-Gown-with-Grosgrain-Sash-VW351039_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang

I did try on the tissue paper one. It was a “take a break” dress. In rose: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Organza-Fit-and-Flare-Gown-with-Bias-Flange-Skirt-VW351011_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang

It was bad. Very not good.

There isn’t enough diversity in the White line to keep my interest.

Vera generally shows 10-13 dresses, twice per year.  The dresses tend to range from traditional to very fashion forward.  The White line has around the same number of looks, but some look pretty similar.

Not even gonna lie, the Vera Wang line of mattresses at Sleep Train are SUPER freakin’ comfy.

Just sayin’.

@MrsNeutrino: Could your hate to the point of nausea have anything to do with the fact that the White tissue dress looks a good deal like your Vera?

hahaha – Im with you.  Anything that mass produced and mass marketed gets old…fast.

It does kinda crack me up though – you already see them popping up on the used dress sites as “Vera Wang” without any mention of David’s Bridal.  Some unknowing bride is going to end up getting duped in to paying too much for a polyester dress just because of the name attached to it…

i have no problem with the line because it provides very trendy and couture dresses to the masses at pretty reasonable prices.  she does sacrifice on the material but not everyone cares about wearing silk so polyester is just fine.  i think vera is a very smart woman. she figured her designs are going to get copied so why doesn’t go ahead and get a piece of the pie by copying her own designs. david’s bridal is also more accessible than other bridal shops.  unless you live in a large city (or travel to one) the only “vera” available is the white line.  i think there are two stores in the denver area that carries vera and one of them (Priscilla of Boston) is closing down.  Even when I went back home to San Diego, there are only a few stores that carry Vera — everyone expects you to travel to LA.

I absolutely HATE the flower bottom dress. I think somebody decided would be extra trendy, if it came in pink too. Some of them also look like they might be see-through… The only dress I sort of like is the one that resembles the Vera Wang dress Kate Hudson’s character wore in Bride Wars.

Also, I have a never ending beef with the models used for the White line. They BOTH look too young, and the bridesmaid dress model especially looks uncomfortably anorexic. I know models are supposed to be thin…but yeesh!

I agree.  The line blew up, but everyone knew it would.  I don’t think people would be as into them if they were just any other dress at DB.  Its the label.  I will say the quality isn’t the best.  The bridesmaid dress I liked looked like someone cut it with scissors, it was totally frayed.  Granted some women love how they look/feel in them, which really is the most important part.

@MASPA: That’s true of the Vera Wang clothing line at Kohls, too. Some of the items are beautiful, but others are really shoddy when it comes to quality.

@hopefloats:

I’m with you. I feel like I’m seeing the same things over and over. She would have to make something that knocked my socks off to get me to even consider a Vera Wang.
