goblueca:  That is a good point to start charting due to age. I’m 34 and DH is 36, and we plan to start TTC within the next couple of months, or after my last pill pack is done next month.

I like the apps, but that would be more exact so we have a higher chance of conceiving. A couple months of guessing and then just doing it… I may as well just start!

I charted for 2+ years before we TTC and now that I’m trying to take a step back from charting it’s biting me in the ass… I know far too much about my cycle and found myself checking what CD I was when I didn’t use OPKs or temp for a couple of months. I really wish I could just forget about CDs, DPOs and cervical fluid for one cycle.. I’d probably end up pregnant!

First two months, I used nothing. Third month I started using OPKs because I was thikning maybe my ovulation on the apps are wrong. Maybe I was ovulating earlier or later? The apps ended up being right that third month, but decided to use OPKs again this past cycle. I’m now pregnant with baby #1. πŸ™‚

I’m really thankful that we got pregnant this quickly as I know there are many women on here who are having a much harder time with it. I hope everyone who wants their BFP gets it soon!

I’ve been charting for about 4 months with no luck. This new cycle I am not going to temp or take OPKs. Really hoping the stress disappears and a baby comes instead!

This is my first month off birth control and TTC. I’ve been playing around with the apps but nothing too serious. We’ve been doing the BD about every other day. I think when we get to the 4 month mark I will start tracking and using OPKs.

araneidae:  Me, too! I started keeping track of my cycle about a year before our wedding so I could pick a date when I most likely wouldn’t have my period and then I stumbled upon charting BBT. I wanted to try it just to see what my body was doing – we got pregnant the 2nd cycle charting, but I’m sure we would have anyway because we’ve been BDing almost every day with maybe a day or two break every couple of days. Charting did give me something to look at while waiting to test and gave me an idea of when I would most likely get an accurate reading on the HPT.

Never tried OPKs, though I was thinking about it if we hadn’t gotten pregnant this past cycle – I was interested in whether my charting app was correctly pinpointing my o date. I guess it was accurate!

I got pregnant with my DD without any kind of charting or OPKs, I just had a regular 28 day cycle and we would BD around CD14 when I was supposed to O and it worked. This time around I am temping and charting because I just think it’s interesting and want to be able to pinpoint ovulation/know more about my body!

A LOT of people don’t chart it’s just a personal preference of how involved in the technical process you want to be!

yogahhh:  If the thought of all that stuff stresses you out, keep doing what you’re doing.  I was like you, I couldn’t be bothered to devote so much time or energy towards it.  We still got our BFP and I didn’t have to feel like TTC was such a chore.

Do whatever makes you happy… πŸ™‚  If you don’t conceive after 6mos-1yr (depending on your timeline) that’s when I might start to get more “serious” about it.

I only do OPKs. Originally, I wasn’t going to do anything, but curiosity got the best of me. I finally got a positive, so it’s nice to know that I’m probably about to ovulate for the first time since being off the pill, and it feels good to have a general timeline πŸ™‚

I have no intentions of charting or temping when DH and I begin our TTC journey next month. If we aren’t pregnant by Christmas, we will ramp it up. I currently use the Clue app and while I know it only basis it off averages, we have sex 3-4 times a week on average as is. I’m bound to hit my fertile window that way!

My husband and I wanted to take a more relaxed approach to TTC so we said we would just have lots of sex for six months. If we weren’t pregnant at that point I would start charting. But I got pregnant in my third cycle, so I never had to. Only took one pregnancy test, as well, just waited until my period was a couple days late. And I’m 32.

I don’t use anything… We just have a lot of sex. I’m very irregular; I’m on CD 83 so I don’t even know when I’m late… (my last cycle was 65 days) I hope I’m pregnant right now, but if not I’ll be going to the doctors next month. (I have endometriosis and PCOS)

Adding, I went with the flow for the first couple months, added opk’s around month 3, added temping around month 4, had a CP/early MC month 6 resumed temping and and got a sticky BFP on month 10-now 23wks along!

i am TTC but i’m charting mainly so that i will have an idea of when my period is coming. i was super irregular before i started BC and now that i’m off it, i’m terrified of it coming suddenly and staining the bed hehe. so far it has been 2 months of trying!

yogahhh:  DH and I are TTC and not using charts, temping, OPKs anything like that. No one I know irl has used any.of those things either. I figure we’ll try casually to start off, then if we don’t get pregnant by the fall sometime I’ll try using OPKs to track ovulation. Right now though we’re just trying to be replaced and have fun with it.

Good luck to you! πŸ™‚
