I just had a conversation with a girlfriend and she thinks it is so weird that I cut my FI’s hair for him… Am I the only one who does this? Is this strange?
PS I am not a trained cosmetologist, but I took my cosmetologist friend with me to buy supplies so they are good quality.

kangaroode: No, I cut my FI’s hair! I started about a year ago after reading a post on YoungHouseLove about it haha. And all I did to prepare was look at some pictures, read a tutorial for scissor cutting, and buy some $10 hair cutting scissors at Target. I don’t use a buzzer except to get the neck mostly.

My guy is balding (awww!) and has always kept his hair buzzed very short. Sometimes I’ll clean up the neck for him. Last night, he asked me to do his whole head, so I did. I don’t love to because I’m afraid of screwing it up, but it usually looks fine.

I cut fi’s hair. He’s easy though. He likes a one all the way round with the edges trimmed up. Piece of cake!

Peaceoutboyscout: Mine too. Takes 10 minutes. Easy peasy!

My mom has cut my dad’s hair for the longest time, and she’s not a haircutter by trade either. I wish I could do that.

My guy’s mom is a hairdresser, she’s been the only person who handled his haircare until he moved farther away. He likes to keep his hair short so all I need is a buzzer and he tells me which numbers to use and when so it’s pretty easy. I don’t think either of us would feel comfortable cutting his hair with scissors (if he were to prefer a longer style). I shave his neck in the shower :b

I used to cut my hubby’s when he was my boyfriend and a starving college student! But it was just clippers!!! Now I never do it, he goes to the hairdresser now.

Peaceoutboyscout: same! Buzz it down, clean up the neck, be sure the ears are clean. 🙂

I cut my husband’s hair a few years ago, once. It came out fine, but I’ll leave it to the pros. Maybe I’ll try again someday.

I cut my husband’s hair. He’s thinning on top and has curly hair so it’s not always easy, but I’ve figured out how to work with it.
He also helps me cut mine sometimes. I have had long hair since we started dating, and cut it myself, he would just make sure it was even from the back. I just got him to cut it all off to shoulder length a few weeks ago though. That made him a little nervous, but it came out well. I’m going to grow it out again, so that was just a one time thing. Neither of us have been to a hair dresser in years.
My Mom cuts my Dad’s hair, and SIL does her Darling Husband, her kids, as well as my Brother-In-Law and Father-In-Law, so it seems pretty normal to me.

I shave his head so it’s all one length, not confident to try anything other than that!

Yep, I buzz my fi’s head every few weeks or so! I told him he had to get it professionally done leading up to the wedding though, because I have the occasional “oopsie!”

lindsayE: hahaha I do the same for mine! He is also balding a bit and is very upset about it so I try to cheer him up.. 😄 I think he should just really shave his head and don’t worry about it (I think bald guys are hot!) but he hasn’t agreed to do it yet.. He said maybe after the wedding!
