(Closed) Am i the only one who hates Mr. and Mrs. John Smith?

Written on invitations, I don’t mind.  However, fiance wants to be announed into the reception as Mr. & Mrs. Fiance’s Name and I am not really thrilled about that.  =/  He’s pretty insistent though, so I will probably just let it go so he can be happy.  Because really, how often will I be called Mrs. Brad Pitt in everyday life?

I hate it too!!  I was working on my wedding invitations and without thinking I asked my mom if they spelled her name right. Ooooh wait…my mom’s name won’t even be on the invitation because her identity is subsumed by my fathers. I’m of half a mind to write “Mrs and Mr Mom Name.” It is also the one thing I dread about changing my name…

We actually eliminated honorifics for most younger married couples on our invite list because this bothered me SO MUCH. I wasn’t going to refer to any of my friends as “Mrs. John Smith” and only did it for others under duress.

I’m fine with Mr. & Mrs. Lastname or Lucky and Fiance Lastname, but I have to admit being called Mrs. Fiance Lastname dosn’t sound too great to me. Like everything I am before marriage doesn’t matter anymore.

For about a month, I was contemplating not taking FI’s last name or both of us taking a new last name (his middle name is both a family name and would work for a last name) but I do know how much of a traditionalist he is. If I had more than a BS under my belt or had made a name for myself buisness-wise, I would probably try harder. But the thought of being Mrs. Lastname now brings a smile to my face 🙂

Unless it’s his grandparents calling me that, I’m not sure I’d even answer to Mrs. Fiance Lastname. And I’ll fight him on what we’re announced as at the reception

Yea im excited about it… I look forward to being his mrs. But i have seen a mr. And mrs john and jane smith type thing used and i dont think its wierd at all
