I’m starting to get really nervous here – I think I’m the only April bride without a dress! To make a long story short, I ordered my dress back in March so that it would have plenty of time to come in and for me to get alterations done. It was scheduled to come in at the beginning of October. Two weeks ago, we went to the same bridal shop so that my girls could try on bridesmaid dresses. I asked if I could try my dress on so I could show everyone, and when the woman brought the dress out… it wasn’t the dress I thought I ordered! It turns out that there was a mix up and the wrong dress was ordered. Luckily, we were able to cancel the order and now I’m going to re-order a dress. However, because of my own indecisiveness, I went and tried on other dresses so now I can’t decide if I want to just re-order the original dress that I thought I bought the first time, or buy something new. I’m getting so nervous no because of the short timeline – I guess I’ll put a rush on whatever I order so that I have time to do alterations. Yikes!!!

@Gibbs428: I’m not on April bride, but you still have seven months. Many brides only have engagements that last four or five months or even less! Don’t panic. It sounds like you have a good plan in place.

don’t worry too much. just make sure you check with the store to get an ETA for the designers you are looking for and allow enough room for alterations. if you really get in a time crunch, you can always go to david’s because they seem to have a quick turnaround or buy the store’s sample.
i bought my dress too early (over a year before the wedding) and now i have three dresses. my weding is next may.

You’re not the only one, I’m a March bride and I also don’t have a dress. I’m with Profiterole on this one, you can always go to David’s in a pinch for a quick turn around on a dress, or maybe you can find a talented seamstress in your area that can custom make a dress for you. You can also try finding a previously owned dress, I’ve seen lots of websites for that as well. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll find your prefect dress.

I’m also an April 28th bride and like you – no dressy no yetty! I’m honestly not stressed about it, mostly because I don’t plan on going the couture/custom measurement route. I’m 100% confident with my time frame, though. I’ve been researching dresses in magazines and online for almost a year now (we got engaged on September 26 last year!) and am pretty sure I know what I’m looking for. I plan on starting brick-and-mortar dress shopping in two weeks – hopefully I can find a few dresses that look great on me and take a bit of time to determine which is The Dress. Probably the sooner the better, though!

I saw my dream dress back in the beginning of May and will order it when I get time after FI’s son gets married this weekend. I went dress shopping last fall after our August engagement but went away unsatisfied unless I saw “her” on a mannequin at DB. I have worked over time ever since to pay cash for dress and other wedding items I’ve bought. DB says I need to order it by Nov for March in case it does take the 15 weeks the designer quotes as a delivery time. Good luck dress shopping!! I enjoyed it even though I didn’t find “the one” when I did.

I don’t have a dress yet! Well, I’ve picked one out but it’s from and online store. I won’t need to order it until January though to have it in time for the wedding. I will go try on dresses later this year just to make sure what I’ve picked out/designed will look good on me, but I’m pretty confident it will. If it doesn’t, I’ll probably just buy off the rack somewhere. I’m honestly not all that worried about the dress, though. Other things are much more important to me.

I’m a March bride and I just started looking. I had a backup dress but some how one of my BM’s showed the pic to Fiance and he hates it. So back to the drawing board. I’m trying to go extremely thrifty as I’m having a hard time spending that much money on a dress when I’d rather put that money towards a trip or a pool. 😀

I don’t have one yet either. I’ve tried on a few, and hopefully I’ll be able to pick one later this week.
