You’re not the only one. It’s crazy.  I’m going to do a post-card type invitation, and RSVPs.  I refuse to spend a month’s worth of groceries on something that will be thrown away.  There’s a helpful thread on affordable invitations somewhere on here, but I’ve forgotten the name of the company.  I’ll try to look it up and post.

I hear ya, sister! I keep wondering if the $6K we are spending on this wedding is the best use of our money, which is on a line of credit to begin with!

I found a local place that does tree-free, recycled invites for 1.65 each. I’m getting the plain ones, and using rubber stamps to make a border, bringing in my theme and colours.

Think outside the box, and you can save money and end up with really unique invites!

Thats exactly why I bought kits from Michaels and did them myself!

Everyone loved them and was really impressed!

Two word for you: Target or Micheals.. DIY.  Buy a kit, print it yourself.  I paid 50 bucks for 100 invites and since they are probably all in the trash now… its all fine and dandy to me that they werent super awesome and fancy.

I will be going the DIY route with using supplies from pocketandmore.com. I plan on making 350 pocket card invitations with 4 inserts for about $440. I think the reasons why the cost of weddings is so high because of the mark-up in the industry. I was quoted $6.50 for ONE invite similar to mine at a stationary store.  Ridiculous!

No, you’re not the only one. It is also ridiculous how much it cost to mail the stupid invitations.

Isnt it crazy! I was at a friends the other day and she said “Oh look at this” and went over to the bin and got out a wedding invite. I was like “Do you know how much this would have cost! Put it on your fridge!” lol she wasnt going and didnt want to keep the invite but it was one of those ones that would have easily cost more than $10 a go. Crazy

I made mine. I did them in a card style with some lovebirds on the front, blinged it up with some diamontes. I think all up they were around $1 a invite.

Yep, and that’s why I did our invitations myself for much cheaper! We even had a printing mishap and had to reprint everything, and they were still cheaper than buying them from someone else.

Check out Allison Barnhill Designs–she does amazing work and her costs are very reasonable! She also custom makes everything, so if you need 26 invites, you can order 26–you don’t have to order 50 like most places require!

I didn’t have invitations because we only had our parents at our wedding, but my announcements cost a small fortune!

No, you are not the only one. Hence why I purchased simple invites off of eBay for $6 per 40 and having one of my students laser print ’em up.

I think it is redicoulous. I bought mine from Vista Print. 50 invites, 50 RSVP Card, evenlopes and labels all for 45 bucks and they are gorgeous.

I am right here with you. I also think they are all ugly and the one I did like would cost me 500 just for the dam invite. I am so not a DIY kind of girl but I am going to suck it up and go to Michael’s to get them for really cheapy.
