@edisonsgirl: Basically, I’m a waiter because I know we’re headed in that direction and we do have a general timeline, but there are several factors… we’ve been long-distance for the past year (and will be for another year until I move back to the U.S.)… when I do move back, we want to just enjoy living together for a while first… we want to be more financially stable, etc. Basically he knows that I’ll say yes when he asks, but I also want him to ask on his own terms so that I know he’s truly ready and not influenced by unintentional pressure on my part.

@ jackie-o, I’m right there with ya!

Call me weird, but I love the idea that all of our guests will remember us on Halloween too.  It’s a no-brainer.

With the exception of my parents, I don’t remember the dates of any of my friends/relatives anniversaries and that includes the weddings I’ve been too. 🙁

I so agree! I told fiance before we got engaged that I didn’t want a holiday proposal and I’d really, really prefer that he not do it on my birthday (which is Valentine’s Day).  🙂 I don’t know why, I just didn’t want a holiday proposal.

There’s so many brides-to-be on here that are so obsessed with planning their engagement and planning the wedding that they forget about living in the moment and the purpose and meaning of the wedding, and that kills me.  It’s about the love, not what date a calendar says.

I would love a holiday engagement. Especially Christmas. It’s my favorite holiday, I find it really romantic and lovely and plus I would be able to celebrate/break the news to all my family.

I also agree about the fact that I’d most likely have time off work as well. I think Christmas (not necessarily Christmas day though) would be perfect for me.

My Fiance took me on a trip to Napa over Valentine’s Day weekend (which was on a Sunday) but waited until Monday to propose for that exact reason. He didn’t want to propose on a holiday. I’m glad he didn’t because it was kind of cliche… but love that he still managed to make the weekend special anyway!
