I DO NOT think that you are being too picky and do NOT settle on this – they asked to be in your wedding (inappropriate #1) and then they bought the dresses without you (inappropriate #2) stick to your guns on this one and get your way!

I agree with Future Mrs. Martin–Don’t give in! Just tell them you had other colors, and say that while you appreciate she wanted to buy the girls’ dresses, you’re going to look at other options that better suit your wedding, and that maybe the girls can wear the dresses during the rehearsal.

Good luck! I know it’s hard going up against your new family…

How about something like, “Wow, those dresses are so cute!  I would love if they wore them to the rehearsal, but I really had something a little different in mind for the ceremony.  I am keeping an eye out for budget conscious dresses in my colors and will keep you posted when I find something!  Thanks for all your enthusiasm about this!”

Um…before I give my 2 cents I would like to know what colors you wanted? You said in your first post only that you wanted bright colors. Nothing really specific. Or did I miss something?

Either way, if it’s not what you want them in, don’t back down. = )
