Hiya, just a quick hairstyle query… Is 5’9″ / 175cm too tall to get a bob haircut? I’m sooo keen to get it cut from its current nothing-y length but my hairdresser said I’m too tall to pull it off ๐ Has anyone on here gone for the chop? Loved it? Regretted it? I’ll post a pick of what I’d go for. I already have a sweeping fringe / bangs, so I’d keep that. Thank you!

I know these are a little different, but I’d consider either length.

I’m 5’9 and I had a razor cut bob for years, I loved it and I got loads of compliments on it, so I don’t think you’re too tall for it ๐

Just seen your pics, mine was a bit shorter than the first pic ๐

What??? That’s crazy! A bob is a classic cut for all ages and heights. Are Tyra Banks and Katie Holmes too tall for bobs? No way! Not to mention I’m 6 feet tall and have had bob styles several times. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on them.

I don’t think your height has anything to do with looking good in a bob, just your face shape.

I think Katie Holmes is about 5’9 and as you can see in the pic, she looks amazing with a bob. I actually think if you’re taller, you probably have a nice long neck, which a bob is great at showing off. Go for it!

Katie Holmes is quite tall herself, though I didn’t like the bob on her when looking at full body shots. It made her head look too small for her body.
I had a bob for many years, and so did my cousin. I’m average height, and she’s 5’10, but it looked great on both of us because we both have small builds. I don’t think it necessarily has to do with height, but rather if one is petite/average/curvy, etc.
Also consider whether you have a slender neck. I always thought I had a short (but slender) neck, but the bob lengthened my neck and it looked fabulous. I’ve also noticed that bad posture in photos is much more apparent when I had my bob, than now with my just-below-shoulder length hair.

I don’t know what your hairdresser is talking about. I kept a bob for years and love it. I’m only growing it out now because I know when I’m older I’ll go back to it so while I can pull off long hair I’m going to.
But I’m 5’9 and every single person I knew or random people who commented loved the bob cut on me. Pic for refrence…

@Stormchild: Are you joking? This hairdresser of yours needs some tips of her own.
Holmes is 5’9″ which is as tall as me and you….aaannnddd I looked damn good with a slanted bob. Can’t wait to chop this mop on my head after the wedding.
Do your thing! It’s only hair.

I have had a pixie or bob for the last ten years and I’m 5’8″. Never heard of ones height influencing the hairstyle! Face shape and features, yes, but not height! I have also noticed that certain necklines on clothing look better with different lengths of shorter hair.

I have never heard anything like that. I’m 5’9 and just got my hair cut to a longish pixie/short bob and I love it. Find a new hairdresser!

i don’t think it has to do with height. i think it is more to do with the shape of your face and is it the right cut for you?
