@rachie205:

You’re not weird at all! Just b/c someone says “wedding” doesn’t mean it has to equate to big puffy tulle gowns with hoop skirts and big churchs and 1000 eyes gawking at you! That’s not what a wedding is about- it’s about marrying the person you love. Do it the way YOU want. PS: Alfred Angelo has some really cute, short “Little White Dress”es. Maybe that could be a start for some dress inspiration.

Not weird at all! I am the exact same way. We actually are eloping, and i do not want a wedding dress! I will go try a few on, and see what the destination dept has to offer, and look at someprom dresses, because I really want a splash of color. But the whole bridal industry kind of freaks me out to be honest.

The outlet section on the David’s Bridal website has a bunch of cute, cheap, short dresses too.

Here is one, that is completely plain. I like it because you could seriously make it your own by adding your own embellishments and end up with something very unique and one of kind, and at a base price of $52.99 you can’t go wrong

Sounds like you should look into a short length dress or a dress with sheath silhouette.

Nope not weird. Im the same way. I HATED going to actual wedding dress stores. I ended up getting my dress from bcbg. its light and not big and wedding dress looking!!

WOW you sound just like me! I am 5’1″ and I don’t like any of that jazz. I went with one of David’s Bridals 2 in 1 dresses so I can walk down the aisle in a long (but very light weight) gown and then ripp the bottom half off and go Sassy for my reception 🙂 The website is down right now, ugh, so I can’t send you the link to the dress, but it’s a really neat idea.

No, not weird. I went through this whole thing too. I just want to be married and for a while, didn’t care about going through the stress of planning a wedding. It just seemed ridiculous to spend so much money on something that lasts a few hours. I also tried to convince my fiance to elope, but he wasn’t having it. Now I do want a wedding, but we are still doing a casual version and it’s good. My dad had some issues with it because it wasn’t formal and extravagant, but it’s not his day so I’m doing what I want.

You can order ANY bridesmaid dress in white or ivory, too! MUCH MUCH cheaper!

Nope!  You’re not weird.  I never wanted to feel like a princess on my wedding day. Not the first time, nor the 2nd time.  I wanted to look sophisticated with a bit of sexy.  The first time I wore a white wedding dress it was very sleek and streamlined, not poofy. The 2nd time I word a gold cocktail dress and I can’t wait to find the opportunity to wear that dress again. I’ve already worn the shoes again!
