I would go with your hair stylist and forget about Amber, no matter how sick she could have at least returned the call or texted earlier notifying you she was sick and would get back to you. Your stylist is licensed, has cheaper rates and will already be there, I’d go with her and there is no fee for a trial so I’d at least see if you like her work.

@TaurianDoll:  Part-time makeup artist here: I have returned calls from the *emergency room*. Not trying to pass judgement on this girl, as I don’t know her situation, but I just know that I’m not letting money slip through my fingers :-/ I’m not saying she’d flake on you, but I think you should consider your hairdresser *IF* you can get your hands on some referrals and especially her portfolio. If she does this regularly, she *will* have one to show you 🙂

@TaurianDoll:  Hey, no problem 🙂 Like I said, I’m not in her shoes, I just know that I’m not passing up a big ol’ wedding day makeup job :-p

@TaurianDoll:  I would definitely let Marcia do the free-trial, and if you love it then by all means stick with her! However, if your trial isn’t up to par then perhaps give Amber a try? Clearly she pulled through with your friends…I don’t think she will miss your wedding (especially if there’s you and a couple other women…I mean, who would just not show up to make $175??).

@TaurianDoll:  Hmmmm I would go with the stylist Marcia if it were me. To be honest unless you are dying its not hard ot pick up the phone for a simple 5 minute call.

You could always test her out again and leave another message and see how quick she responds….just a thought.

I personally would hate to have the thought in the back of my head. Does Marcia have a portfolio of past brides makeup she has done? That might give you an idea of her work since you are unsure.

@TaurianDoll:  Yeo you still have time so no need to stress just yet but it sounds like Marcia is more professional at this point but if you like Ambers work better maybe just talk to her again and see…..always trust your gut…….if something doesn’t feel right then its prob not!

Good luck and keep us posted!

@TaurianDoll:  I have heard the MAC girls are really well tRained! A lot of them aspire to be makeup artists for photo shoots etc., so they will probably be very professional. Good luck!

If you have an established relationship with your hairstylist then I would try to go with her. I would be worried about this “Amber” too. Can you decide after doing a make up trail with Marcia? (It would suck to cancel with Amber and then come out looking like a clown with Marcia and then be totally stuck!)
