I ordered my veil from them. It’s definitely a cheap veil, but it will do for me, I didn’t want to spend a lot on something like that anyway. Definitely wise to be cautious about sites like this.

@adw2c: I will for sure! I’m supposed to have shipping on May 26, 2011 according to my account information when I log in. I have it marked to see if they are true to their word or not!

I recently bought a bridesmaid dress from light in the box and it was a great experience.  I can honestly say that the biggest downfall was that I paid the extra 30 bucks to get it “custom sized” and still had to pay to get it altered.  Besideds that the dress was well made and exactly what I order.  I’ve attached pictures of me and a few of the other bridesmaids who bought from light in the box as well.

I ordered a veil from LITB. I was a little nervous because duh its from China, but it was $20 for a chapel length veil with lace on the edge, so it didn’t matter that much if it didn’t come and long veils from US with lace are super duper expensive. Plus shipping only cost 2 (two) dollars ??

It came in about three weeks (within estimated shipping time of 14-30 days) and it was what it said it was. The lace wasn’t lace, it is just machine embroidery around the edge of the tulle, but I don’t really care. Who’s gonna tell me my veil isn’t good enough? No one. It did say it was a two layer veil on the website, but its just one big sheet. Once again, for $20, I’m not complaining. I think it was a great deal!

I had a pretty good experience and have considered buying other things from them. I guess I didn’t take too much of a risk, but I thought I’d add my two cents.

@ Mila MM

Your right, I did order around Chinese New Year, and even a reputable dress salesman in the US will tell a customer that sales around that time take much longer. The LITB website noted this as well, and I took this into consideration before posting my review. They gave me a date my dress would be shipped, and the extra time for Chinese New Year was calculated into this date. The dress never went out despite the time extensions I gave them, and I honestly dont believe it was ever going to go out….especially after I googled the company and read about the others that had experiences like mine.

Well it is now May 26, 2011 and when I log into my Light in the Box account it says my order is still processing. Maybe it’s too early in the day for any change but so far, there have been no changes on my order status.  I promised I would write the day the shipping was estimated to happen, and so far no change. I’ll keep you posted!

i’m sorry you guys are having such a hard time with them – we ordered bridesmaids dresses from them around thanksgiving and receieved them in a very timely manner – the interesting thing is that  they were all ordred seperately at different times by my BM’s and no one seemed to have problems – ugh this upsets me because i gave them great reviews. 🙁

@totheislnds: I’m not giving up hope! I kinda figured they’d be late, it seems a lot of people have that problem. I think I was just secrectly hoping they wouldn’t live up to that reputation! 🙂

Update on my dresses…..I asked LITB about my order since it was not shipped on May 26 as they estimated. They got back to me right away explaining the delay. According to them they have 4 of the 5 dresses done and the new shipping date is estimated to be June 7, 2011. They offered 30% off to compensate for the delay. I agreed to this and so now we wait a little longer to see if the new estimated shipping time works. So far I’ve had nothing but easy dealings with them, they did get back to me very quickly when I placed an inquiry into the order.

Update! My dresses have all been shipped as of June 5, 2 days earlier than the estimation! I am not sure if the 30% discount has been applied yet, I have not seen it on my credit card yet, but I’m watching for it. They said the dresses will take about 2-3 weeks to arrive, and I have the tracking numbers from UPS so I’ll keep tabs on it! So far so good, fingers crossed! 🙂

I GOT MY DRESSES TODAY!!!!!

I’m supposed to be working right now but I got the dresses shipped to my work and I can barely contain my excitement! Is it bad I want to try one on? I really do! I want to run in the bathroom and try it! LOL!

Anyways I only have 2 of 5 bridesmaids in the same city as me, so one of them I am seeing tonight and I’m forcing her to try on her dress. haha.

I have to admit, when I pulled the dress out of the box, I had a WTF! moment…but then I realized they packed the dresses inside out. When I fixed that, it was what I was hoping for. Now fingers crossed they fit everyone…I have 1 pregnant Bridesmaid or Best Man and one trying…so I hope these are a forgiving fit, that’s what I was aiming for!

Anyways, I’ll take some pics and post later!

WHOO HOO!! Off to the bathroom to try them on!!! JK!!

Ok so I got the Maid/Matron of Honor to try on the dress and it looks great! She is pregnant so we got it a bit bigger, and it is loose so has some room to grow for her yet. The wedding isn’t until October so lots of time to get it hemmed and such, but we are waiting for any alterations till closer to the date for her. Anyways, the other 4 girls haven’t tried theirs on yet since they are out of town and I got the dresses shipped to me. I hope they fit!

I have to say I was really skeptical of LITB after all the bad reviews. I think, if you are thinking of ordering from them, you need to A- Don’t order if you have a tight time limit. I had a delay in shipping in my items, and it was only about 2 weeks later than they thought, but still, if I was in a panic for them it would have been horrible. And B- I would just monitor your order closely. I contacted them the day shipping didn’t happen and I got 30% off my entire order. Now saying that, I haven’t seen that refund on my credit card yet, but I’m watching that too. If it doesn’t come I’m certainly contacting them again.

Anyways, the material seems good, they shipped it carefully, and I’m happy with how they look. As for customs, I didn’t get charged anything, but I don’t know if that’s a Canadian thing or what. I have no reasoning for why I didn’t have to pay any duties, I was expecting to and nothing, so far, has happened with that.

So I hope this helps if anyone is planning on ordering from them. I was really nervous about it but 1 of 5 fits so far and I’m happy!

So far, all the dresses are fitting the girls. The only problem we have had is that 1 of the dresses (and I think possibly 2 dresses will have this problem), the strap that goes around the neck, it is too short…and pulls the dress up in a weird way. I think it can be easily fixed as all the dresses were made too long, so there is for sure extra material, and I think we can just expand it at the back of the neck and no one will notice.

Also I did get the 30% credit on my credit card the other day, so in total I paid just under $500.00 CAD for 5 dresses. They all are lined well and the sewing seems good as well. I counted in alterations in my budget, I think that is also a must if you plan to order from here. I wouldn’t assume they come “ready to wear”, or like I said on an earlier post if you are in a hurry, I wouldn’t get them from here. If you have time and can get the alterations done, I would say go for it!

I hope this helps someone else, and hopefully they give good service to you as well. Good luck! Smile

I don’t know if LTTB is legit or not, but I can certainly say that I am so glad that I didn’t order from them….  I have just read too much drama and difficulty surrounding them to feel comfortable…

Hello everyone, I ordered a dress from lightinthebox before I did any research on the site(I know very backwards). After I purchased the dress I decided to google and see what people were saying. Like most of you are saying I found tons of horrible reviews and a few good ones that I was skeptical of. I ordered my dress in May and it was scheduled to ship on June 27. I had read several reviews of people never getting their items or that the shipment dates have constantly changed so I was very nervous on Monday when my order still said in processing. I e-mailed them and they did respond the same evening. According to the e-mail I would receive a 30% credit because it did not ship when they said it was. The e-mail stated there was a delay due to the dress being in high demand. I was asked to reply to the e-mail to let them know if I still wanted the dress.

So, I did go ahead and take the chance. My dress shipped out on june 29th. I have not seen my credit yet. The dress has been delivered to my house this morning. I am excited and scared of what this dress is going to look like and smell like (most of the reviews I have read all say there is a stinch when opening the box). I will post pictures of the dress as pictured on the website and what I have at home waiting on me either later today or in the morning. Wish me luck!
