- Wedding: June 2009
My husband and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary (6.27.10) in Napa (and San Francisco). I gave my husband 1 share of Amazon stock (his fave “store”) ala Mrs. Toucan, and he gave me…a bound hardcover book he had specially made at a bindery of all of our correspondence (emails, letters, et. al.) from 2000-the year we met to 2003, when he graduated from college and moved back home to Chicago. He included a touching foreword and titled it Love Long Distance: Eileen & Jeremy -The Complete Correspondence 2000-2003. This gift was so touching and meaningful because he really nailed the paper theme of the 1st anniversary, we had a long-distane relationship for the first 3 years, and we met on-line, so the letters and emails meant so much (we exchanged so many before we ever laid eyes on one another!). Those letters and emails sustained me when he was studying abroad first in Italy, then in London. As I read the book on the plane ride home, separated by a row of seats from my beloved (damn frequent flyer program!), I relived the early days of our relationship and shed a tear or two over our young love.
I just wanted to share this with the wedding community that sustained me during those tough nights of planning our wedding and through the first year of marriage. Thanks, guys.
