I’m wondering what your experience has been with Amazon Universal. Do people buying us gifts on there need to know our home address for shipping purposes since the sites for the Universal registry may not have our address. It seems like a great idea, but does it execute well?
Any help/advice is appreciated.

I’m wondering about this too. Is it completely online? I don’t know if the older guests would like an online registry.

Yes, it is completely online. There is no “brick and mortar” Amazon store. So, if you have older guests that don’t like an online registry that could be a problem. As for the Universal function, it is my understanding that when someone picks that item on your Amazon registry, they are simply reserving that item or “calling dibs.” Once they click on the item they will be transferred to the other website’s storefront and will have to enter all the information there (including your address). Amazon just offers a centralized location where you can compile all your coveted items.
As for whether or not guests will use it? I can’t say. I hope so! I’ve pretty much registered for the whole Anthropologie store through Amazon, since Antrho doesn’t offer a registry 🙂

i know people who have used the universal registry on Amazon successfully. I think it can be done, but you might want to have a more traditional registry in addition for older/not-as-computer-savvy guests.
