After a lot of waffling and deliberation, I’ve decided to narrow my registries down to two. The main one is at Bed Bath & Beyond. I had started one at JC Penney as well, but then all the sale prices for items I’d registered for went away and I realized that there’s no way I can bring myself to register for $100 sheet sets – plus I found better ones on BB&B for less money!
So most of what we need is on BB&B, but there are some items that I’d really like that they don’t carry, including my favorite flatware pattern (Cambridge Blossom Sand – Fiance and I both love it!) and a treat canister for my Chihuahua (perhaps an odd thing to register for, but Miss Rose needs a place for her treats!)
Right now I’m registered at Amazon for these things, but after reading some other posts from people who’ve registered there, I’m beginning to have second thoughts. Most of both our families live in rural areas, and I’m not sure how many of them shop online. They’re also not at all close to a BB&B.
So, I’m thinking about switching the Amazon registry for one at Walmart, since there’s one within driving distance of everyone back home, and they also carry that flatware pattern and Chihuahua canister (and a lot of the other things on the Amazon registry). However, I have a couple misgivings about doing this. One, I worked for them once, and it was a pretty bad experience – just setting foot in the place is enough to put me in a foul mood. Second, many of the things I’d be putting on the Walmart registry are only available online, so people still wouldn’t be able to just go to the store and buy them (although they do ship to local stores in most cases).
Regardless of my own shopping preferences, the bottom line is, I want to make things as convenient as possible for both in-town and out-of-town guests who would like to get us a gift. I’ve worked really hard to keep everything on both registries under $60 so people won’t feel intimidated by prices, but I’m not sure about which second registry would be better. Obviously I can’t ask them about it, lol. For those of you who have used either Amazon or Walmart, what were your experiences?
