I just got engaged a few months ago and have been trying to decide on a venue. I’ve narrowed it down to the 3 – Ambassador Campus Fowler Garden, Pasadena Museum of California Art, Upper Las Virgenes Open Space Preseve. Now I’m having a tough time deciding and have a few questions for anyone out there who may have experience with either of the above venues.
For Ambassador- is the nearby football field a problem during the ceremony with noise? Also is the cocktail hour space awkward?
For PMCA- is the sun an annoying glare during the ceremony on the rooftop for the guests?
For ULV- Is the drive down Crummer canyon scary at night? is it windy at night?
I’m hoping to get married next summer and hoping to pin down a date soon! Thanks for any advice in advance.

Can you provide links to the potential venues!!

Thanks…being engaged comes with lots of decisions to make!
I’ll check Project Wedding again but I think when I looked before, I didn’t see much.

Ambassador – OMG. Serious jealousy!! I found out about that place very late in the planning but the price and the ability to bring in outside caterers made me and husband contemplate switching venues. Anyway, the venue is fairly new so I doubt you will find very many reviews for it especially since there are so many different areas available to rent.
If you already have you wedding date in mind, check to see if anything will be taking place at the football field during the wedding. I don’t think that cocktail hour space would be that big of an issue. Afterall, it’s only for an hour and people will be standing for most of the time anyway.
PMCA – It depends on the time of the ceremony and the month. If the glare is a problem it can easily be remedied by providing parasols for your guests.
ULV – I think the best way to determine this answer is by investigating it with your Fiance by driving there at night and discussing it afterwards. In the end, you know your guests better than we do.

ive been to rooftop weddings, and i think as long as umbrellas are provided, the sun shouldn’t be that much of a problem since the ceremony will only be about half a hour anyway.

Hey JMB. Congrats on getting engaged. I also got engaged about three months ago and my fiance and I are getting married at Ambassador College. Coincidently his parents were married there 35 years ago. ") It is the most amazing place honestly. I think that if you are creative the cocktail hour and reception should go smoothly. I personally am having a mid summer nights dream themed wedding so that droppy willow just next to Fowler is working perfectly for us. Also, that school is incredibly small, and it will be summer time, i’m sure there’ll be no disruptions there. Also Sylvia Nolan is amazing and will helpyou through a lot regarding the campus. it’s an amazing price…i dont think you can go wrong with this place!

ah!! I just found this post and am in heaven because I had no idea where to start looking for LA venues (family is in Nor Cal, thought I would do Nor Cal due to pricing, but there are plenty of fair choices here!) Thanks!
