Did your Father-In-Law make a comment about you needing to lose weight? 🙁  Ugh – I’m sorry.  I think people mean well by trying to ‘encourage’ you to do something – but it has the opposite effect.  I’m really sorry that your Father-In-Law is trying to push you to do whatever he is trying.  He’s probably excited about his progress and wanting you to have the same results.

Ugh, I hate when people get on your case about weight. It’s such a personal thing and so many don’t realize that fat =/= unhealthy. Plenty of people are “overweight” and still plenty healthy – and I’ve got friends who are size 0’s that are the most unhealthy I know. It all depends on who you are, what you do and if you’re HAPPY with yourself. *hug*

I can’t believe that someone told you that you were going to die young. In my opinion, nobody has a right to say things like that/bring up that topic except your doctor – and then ONLY if there are truly life-threatening things going on.

@swanks4tw: ok, that is soooo messed up.  I can’t believe they went so far as to invite you two out for lunch and bamboozeled you into a SALES pitch… and what a horrid pitch at that!!!!  I would have been dumbfounded.

That is friggin rude. I’ve had something similar happen to me, but it was a regular customer at my old job. It’s amazing the things people think they can get away with.

Being overweight may not be healthy, but fad dieting is not healthy either.  And that’s not the way to go about trying to convince someone to lose weight, either.  My fiance has lost 60 pounds doing Weight Watchers and counting calories, losing weight at a healthy pace, and has inspired other people in the office to do the same – but not by trying to scare them.  They’re the ones that ask him what he’s been doing, he doesn’t push it on them.

@swanks4tw: I think you’re doing exactly right by yourself and what you should be doing. Slow, gradual weight loss is the best way to do it if you want to keep it off. Fad diets are often dangerous and “quick” results aren’t likely to stick because once you stop depriving your body of nutrients and go back to normal eating, you’ll gain. I know they made you feel bad, but try not to listen to them! Confide in his aunt and keep her in mind as your inspiration.

I’m losing weight right now, too, and while it’s taken me almost a year to lose just 30 lb., I know I’m doing it the right way and proud of myself. Be proud too! And if you need to talk or vent, feel free to message me.
