Anyone out there familiar with a reception at the American Legion?
I am a veteran and I just joined the legion, but I know NOTHING about it.
I’ve heard that the prices to hold a reception at the legion are very low cost compared to other event halls.
Anyone have any information on this?
My Fiance and I are on a budget, and we have about 100 people on our guest list.

American Legions, Moose lodges etc are usually very affordable, but it will vary. Give them a call and ask.
It will probably a few hundred to rent the hall and you can bring in your own caterers. Their alchohol will be cheap as well.

Like pp said, their halls are often very inexpensive. One thing to consider if you do choose to go with the American Legion is the cost of decor. We often get calls from people who want to drape the entire room of an Elks or Moose Lodge because they don’t like what is on the walls (some locations keep a nice clean look but others have things that need to be covered to make it look more like a wedding) and draping an entire room is very pricey. So, before you book, think about how you would want the room to look and if you would want something like drapery and lighting get some quotes to make sure the amount of dressing up the venue needs doesn’t cost so much that you aren’t saving any more than you would at another venue that needs less dressing up.

theose halls ahave fantastic prices what you have to do now is figure out all the other details
my mom own a reception hall and often decorates for some of the American Legions in the area
the only thing i can say about some of them is that you really have to check out the facilities because some are fantastic but some hmm well not so much so just make sure you visit it and that you are happy with the appearance. like previously stated some of those places need draping to cover up undesired things but there are a lot of decorators that will take care of that
for example my moms decorators dont drape the whole thing but just cover up the areas that look bad with columbs etc so you could find some decorators in your area that are willing to cover up instead of drape for a low cost 😀
we did a 15 at a nearby one and it looked fantastic on the outside but the inside was very damages so we decorated with some nice linens and covered up some things, put a little bit of lighting in to make the fabrics stand out and well it looked amazing 😀
totally can be done 😀
