For our vow renewal next year we are upgrading rings. I will be getting a gorgeous set that I love from Laurie Sarah!
The set that I fell in love with is set with Amethyst as the center stone. Its gorgeous. I am in love!
On a post that I have seen here a week or so ago, it was mentioned the hardness/durability of certain gemstones sometimes a concern . So I asked about it to Laurie Sarah.
She said that it sometimes can be an issue (they can chip) and although easily replaced….another alternative is a purple sapphire, which I guess are more durable..but it will also cost a little more.
Does anyone have any input or thoughts.
I dont want to replace a my center stone..I want to keep it forever……however, this is all getting so expensive and I also want to make sure my ring is the purple color I am in love with……..well we are both in love with it…….

I don’t really know much about stones. But you might be better off asking as pricescope.com They know all about rings and stones/gems.
Good luck and when you get the new ring come back and show us! 🙂

Sapphires come in just about every shade imagineable. If the sapphire color is a purple you love, I’d definitely go with that. It’ll be more durable than amethyst. I’ve had a pink sapphire that I’ve worn for years everday with no problem.

I’d go the sapphire route. They definitely stand the test of time, and like pinkshoes said, you shouldn’t have a problem getting one in the shade of purple you like.

Yeah…i think that may be the best decision……..sapphire seems best….
a little mor $$$$ but, probably worth it in the end

I agree, go with the sapphires. I have a couple amethyst rings and both have small chips in them. I have an heirloom pink sapphire ring as well that is still perfect. I wear them all about the same amount.
