The diamond simulate choice is maddening!!! 😲😲😲
For the size and cut of stone I want (emerald or rectangular asscher cut) a simulate would be my best choice. I am looking for a stone in the 3.5-4.5ct diamond equivalent range. (Size 8.25 finger).
I own a white sapphire in cushion cut, and love it, but in EC white sapphire can appear really lifeless and dull.
I know that these are gemstones in their own right and the refractive properties. I am most concerned with the durability factor (I’d like a forever stone) and hardness on the mohs scale.
Which are easy to maintain ect? I do like warmth and want ine that is durable and will be beautiful for a very long time.
I’ve read that asha and amora are “glorified” cz’s. Is this true? Amora gems are expensive!!! Even more than moissanite.
Also moissy doesn’t have trapezoid or baguette stones.

Debbiestelle: That ring in the picture is totally gorgeous.
First off, no Amora gem is not a CZ and is considered more closer to a moissanite than that. The big difference between a moissanite and the Amora gem is the cuts so they sparkle differently but the Amora gem is considered more diamond like. Depends on the person on what kind of sparkle the person prefers. Also with the Amora gem they are forever stones like moissanite and they come with actual stats to choose from, other than cut. Colours range from D-H and SI1 upwards on clairty. I’ve seen a couple beautiful Amora gem asschers and cushions on here, stunners and looked worth the money. Particularly considering how much you would have paid on a diamond equivalent!
There’s some beautiful moissanite around too and can be slightly cheaper than the Amora, some prefer one over the other but it’s personal taste. You get your classic moissanite (j-k colour range), FB (near colourless) and F1 (colourless). Personally I wouldn’t want below FB with the cut you want since this shape can show more colour and whlie a little is nice but I wouldnt want to show that much, especially when it’s different colour to a diamond (can tinge colours like green).
Now a Asha is glorified CZ, an expensive one for what you get one. They are harder to maintain and are not forever stones like moissanite and Amora gems. They have been known to scratch, chip and cloud up very quickly, you would have to replace them often.

Moissanite is 9.5mohs, diamond is 10mohs.

bluehope: Thanks bunches!!! I may look into amora. I did some research after I posted and seems they are a 9.25-9.5 on mohs scale.
Any idea of where I can find an emerald cut and trapezoid cut amora gems? I’d a like G-J color stones and trapezoid side stones to match in platinum.

Debbiestelle: the amora gem emerald cut is not out yet, and the asschers are perfectly square.. So it would be difficult to recreate this ring with amoras. if you wanted it now, moissanite or asha (which you could replace later on) would be your only option

Princesskitty101: So funny you would post that ring! Jen from Jhollywood is who I will be working with. 😊
I love working with small businesses and artisans. It keeps the creative field going!!!
That is actually the EXACT ring we’ve been talking about. She is called Kennedy. My hands are so large that they swallow up carat size. Going back and forth on if I want go to an 11x9mm center stone with 7x5mm sides instead of a 10x8mm center stone with 6x4mm sides.

Debbiestelle: Its meant to bee! Lol that’s crazy I posted that. I think she will do an amazing job on your ring and I feel you will love whatever she does. I also have large hands I’m a size 9 and I have long fingers so I understand trying to find the perfect ring that will compliment your fingers to well lol.

Princesskitty101: I concur! She has been a pleasure so far and answered all kazillion of my questions! 😂😂😂
I think I am going to go with the 11x9mm… though that will mean she will have to rre-do the mount to fit which mean more $$$ but well worth it.
Thanks for the advice! Very valued! THANK ALL YOU LADIES!!! Didn’t realize amora didn’t have emerald cut stones yet!

My dream is a great big emerald cut diamond. Obsessed. I looked at fb moissanite, and I don’t know about the color, and if that would bother me or not. I was going to wait for the krupps amora, but who knows how long that’s going to be. I’m pretty impatient when i’m obsessed. I just ordered an emerald cut garnet from gemvara, so that’s satisifed me for now. Jeez i’m turning into one of those many ring club girls.

amandajane4949: My dream ring is a big ole emerald cut diamond also! I’d want a simple setting and (depending on size) either baguettes or trapezoid side stones. It may happen for both of us!
Until then, I will enjoy the sparkle I do have… and create as close to my “dream ring” as I can afford! Ohhh! And ogle over all you lovely ladies’ rings! 😂😂😂
Welcome to the ring club! 😊 – It happened to me before I even knew it. Sheesh! 😩 I have just accepted it. Guess we all pick where our (extra) money goes. I am going to join ring club anonymous soon! Will save you a seat if you’d like! 😜
Take care!!! Wear (all) your pieces in good health! Xo

Princesskitty101: Then I will be reviving a one-two year old thread. Hope you won’t mind. 😂😂😂 – I research, I save, I buy. I am saving for it now. So many transitions in my life that my emerald cut dream will have to wait.
Interesting though how much my taste has changed over the last 5 years. So glad I waited on many of the pieces I thought I wanted. I was absolutely HORRIFIED to go back and read a thread I’d started (years ago) where my dream ring inspirations were… well HUGE to say the least. I wanted 15ct center… and a halo… and pave band work…and side stones of some sort all in one ring. Plus an 8ct EC eternity band. 😂😩😟 😂 Wish WB allowed me to delete it.
Now I am wondering if a 4.5ct center (which in EC faces up much smaller especially on 8.25 fingers) is too large for me.
Once again I earnestly appreciate your feedback. VERY VERY helpful. Xoxo
