@Colorkraze  Thank you so much for the detailed post. As a boyfriend determined to become a fiancé, this is extremely helpful.

I thought that graduating college with substantial student loans had made it impossible for me to buy the ring that my girlfriend deserves right now. After doing some research, I thought my best option was to purchase a moissanite and replace it with a diamond later in life. After seeing your photo, I’m not sure this will be necessary. It looks like the Amora gem is a viable permanent option.

I’m going to do more research into the Amora gem, but after reading about the extent of your research, I thought I’d ask if you had any other advice or factors to consider as I research my options? I would obviously need to discuss this with my girlfriend–I would not try to pass the gem as a diamond when I give it to her. Any feedback from anyone is appreciated. Thanks!

@everynowandadam  Just make sure your ladyfriend is on board with having a non-diamond stone.

@Trilly   Thank you, all! I will definitely purchase a few stones and decide which I think she’ll be happiest with. And I’ll talk to her about it first as well. I wouldn’t want to end up with a hearts and arrows shaped dent in my chin.

@Colorkraze  I’m a little late into the conversation. My Fiance and I are looking for Erings, but do not want a diamond. You said your sister got the FB Moissy, but you like the AMORA more?

Which ring did you and your sister get? (The FB or the AMORA)? I know which size you got, but am just confused on which gem.

Thank you for repeating any information.

Cloorkraze Thanks for all of the info you have shared … I have a question on your first post you mention you looked at amora gem and amora moissante is that a different stone ???? im im a little confused …. I know that I would want a FBmoissaanite because of the light yellow colors people say the stone has I want something that looks almost similar to diamond !

Thabk you in advance 🙂

@Gnautica88  The options are becoming a little overwhelming for those just diving in, so it is a good idea to ask a lot of questions. 🙂

Moissanite is a stone grown and sold by Charles and Colvard, started in the 90’s, originally had a terrible green/yellow cast to them, newer rough (aka, new cut stones from newer rough grown within the last 2 years or so) is much better, better color, and better cut.

Forever Brilliant moissanite is sold by Charles and Colvard(C&C), another company, Better Than Diamond, will take C&C moissanite stones and place them through a  high tempurature high pressure process that fixes broken atomic bonds (which cause the yellow/green tinge), making the stone more colorless (whiter), and they sell them as amora-ized moissanite.

The Amora Gem on the other hand, is a different moissanite crystal grown by Better Than Diamond, that they make from start to finish, and they are colorless, with a Hearts and Arrows ideal cut. Many would argue that the AG looks more diamond like than the FB moissanite, due to lack of green/yellow color and generally better cut (although there are some amazingly pretty FB moissy stones out there!).
