Oh, I’ve been following everything with the Amora Gem since the beggining, and I cannot wait to see it for sale, limited though it will be at the beggining. I have SO many projects in store for some Amora gems, but I haven’t put myself on the list yet because they all require sizes they don’t have on their yet in addition to the ones they do currently plan on releasing first, and I don’t want to torture myself by having *some* of the stones I need and only able to look at them loose.

I’m also quite looking forward to all the Amora Gem porn once some people can get their hands on it!

@NovaRising:  Thanks! I’m on the list for a couple of Asschers for earrings! SO has family in Korea so I hopefully won’t have to wait too long! But, does anyone know the legality of bringing/sending the Amora gem from another country to the USA before the patent restricting sale here expires?

That looks like a long list! Any idea how much more the amora gem will cost than the moissanite amora? I’m getting my ring in a few months, and I don’t know if it will be worth waiting.

@Paiger8:  The Amora Gem will be somewhere around $600/ct, and Less (owner of BTD) has stated they expect sales to those on their notification list this November/December, with sales posted on their website (as in, anyone can go there and order one) in early to mid 2013.

If you live in a patent protected country, you can still purchase the stone and have it shipped to a non patented country and then forwarded to you via a forwarding service (must be set up ahead of time) or even better yet, a friend in a non patent protected country.

My “second” mom so to speak lives in Bahrain, so if the patent doesn’t get invalidated in the USA or Canadain the next few months, I have the option to send the stones to her and she’ll send them to me in the USA. I think it’s so funny that it isn’t illegal to own the Amora gem in a patent protected country, but it is to sell them.

As for it being worth the wait… well, that depends. If you want a colorless stone that will last a few lifetimes with a H&A cut that isn’t a diamond, I’d think it’s worth the wait. Of course, you could always get an Asha or Wink CZ as a temporary stone until you can get the Amora gem so you don’t have to wait.

Can someone please explain the differences between Amora gems and regular Amoras?

@floridagirlblue:  Sure thing!

Amora moissanite: moissanite stones cut and sold by C&C are put through a screening test for cut, color, secondary hue, etc., and then given a permanent Amora treatment. So, the treatment is done to change the atomic level (fix broken bonds that result in color) of the regular moissanite stone, resulting in a stone with less color.

Amora Gem: A new silicon carbide gemstone that  is being grown by BTD, a completely different crystal structure than C&C moissanite. The Amora Gem is truely colorless (regular C&C moissanite with no treatment is is the “slight tint” category, Amora-ized moissanite is in the “near colorless” category), and has Hearts and Arrows round cut, H&A cushion, Krupps/Emerald, *true* Princess, Asscher, and OEC.

It isn’t for sale yet, but will be by the very end of this year to those on the waiting list, and will go up for sale online early to mid 2013. Less has been very generous in making sure that his loyal customers/fans of his products get first dibs on Amora Gems before anyone else via signing up on the notification list.

Hope that helps. =)
