Hi guys! I’m a lurker and I’ve finally made an account 😄 So many of the posts and ladies on here have been so helpful, so since my boyfriend and I have been talking about engagement, I figured now would be a good time to finally join!
We likely won’t be able to afford diamonds, but honestly I have known for years that I don’t want diamond anyway, regardless of whether or not it’s affordable. I definitely want moissanite, and my boyfriend is interested as well (though he’s a little afraid of getting me something “fake” AKA not diamond, but he’s coming around to the idea).
I’m hoping to find out the differences between the Amora Gem and the new Forever One moissanite that was recently released by Charles and Colvard. Oval and marquise are my favorite shapes of choice, not sure which one yet because it’ll depend on what’s available at the time etc. I don’t now of either of those two brands make a colorless marquise at all, which is a shame because thats hands down my favorite shape, but it’s important to me that the stone be as colorless as possible. So an oval would be okay instead, in that case.
Do any of you ladies have experience with either (or both) of these stones, and have any insight as to how they might compare?

jojobeans91: I have an amora gem and that’s typically what I prefer over moissanite due to the cut being more diamond like. I believe the oval amora gem will be available very soon, but you should definitly get on their waiting list. I havnt seen an oval shaped forever one moissanite yet, moissaniteco.com doesn’t have them available (they are the most popular moissanite website here). But last night I was surfing and decided to go to moissanite.com and they actually have the oval forever one moissanite available. My best advice would be to order both forever one and amora gem ultra then decide what you like best. As for the marquise cut, i dont see betterthandiamond.com making any in the amora gem anytime soon since its not a popular cut, they arnt even making pears. The same goes for the forever one. So if marquise is what you want then forever brilliant or standard moissanite would probably be your only option. Welcome to weddingbee 🙂

jojobeans91: I love what I’ve seen from moissanite! I don’t have one personally, but I’ve read a lot of good feedback from other brides about moissaniteco.

Thank you guys! I saw the oval Forever One on moissanite.com too, and I could have sworn I saw an oval Amora Gem somewhere too. I just don’t remember where. But they only had a 9×7 available, and I don’t even know if I’d want a 9×7 or an 8×6. Decisions!
I’m going to look into getting on the waiting list, thanks for that suggestion. I’m just not sure exactly how soon we’re going to be purchasing a ring, but hopefully fairly soon.
We also live on Long Island so I’m hoping there might be somewhere in Manhattan etc that might have gems and rings we can look at together. He’s not too keen on doing everything from behind a computer screen, but if we can’t find the stones in person then so be it, I suppose. Moissanitco has so many beautiful designs though.
I love the marquise cut, I wish it were more popular! But I’m also afraid of that greenish/yellowish tint, so oval it is I suppose.
