Yay!  I know how excited you are.  I was psyched when I got my Amora.

That’s awesome. Mentioning the shortage, you have me a little worried. I want an Amora, but can’t exactly afford it now. Maybe I can use this to prod my H to buy it sooner LOL

@Jade33:  That’s a good idea. I’ll have to talk to him about it. I’d love to get the ring today, so maybe this will push us towards it 😛

@Jade33:  Haha!  I love it.  Although, I wonder how many others have moissanite around me, but I just didn’t know it.

@MrsJazzy:  Not so much a shortage right now, just a concern that there will be less stone to Amora-ize in the future.

They only do Amora on the whitest, better cut stones to begin with.Since there is only so many stones that meet those requirements pre-treatment right now, there were concerns they would run out of stones to Amora-ize before Charles & Colvard cut more suitable stones, etc. It is harder to find suitable stones in larger sizes over smaller sizes and one of the “pools” (aka distributors) they were pulling from was not providing them with the stones they needed to meet their pre-treatment standards as the “pool” they were pulling from was getting smaller. They found they were returning about 75%+ of the stones they pulled in for not being suitable for Amora, up from closer to 30-40%.

Anyway, it is not exactly a panic situation right now. They found another distributor who has more stones for them for now.

I suspect once the Amora Gem comes out and is available, a lot of people will switch over to that anyway making this more of a non-issue for the most part. BTD has already said they will not be Amora-treating any stones that they offer the same cut of in Amora Gem (so the H&A round, cushion, etc). Plus for those looking for true colourless stones, the Amora Gem will be an F which is higher than the current Amora-enhanced H/I or so.

@Jade33:  @RayKay:  argh! he changed the shipping address so it would arrive at work!! i’m the office manager where he works, so I’LL be the one getting the package when it arrives, but i can’t open it in the office!

no idea what setting. he’s getting it custom made. all i know is that he’s getting it made by a local jeweller (we live in an amazing jewellery district) so he physically go in and talk to them about it.

he was going to choose the entire ring himself so i felt kind of bad when i mentioned the amora but he was really good about it. so the entire setting is down to him now. it means a lot to him that he designs something himself which does make not opening the box a lot easier.

i want him to see the giant smile on my face when i see the ring for the first time. it’s going to be an amazing moment.

yay shortage!
