I don’t have either, but if I were going to get one, it would definitely be an Amora Gem. Especially now that Charles&Colvard are posting horrible things on people’s instagram pictures of their Amora Gem stones.

I chose moissanite (which is currently out being set) because they currently have a larger selection. The only OEC Amoras they had available were 3ct + and were much larger and more expensive than I wanted to go.

trtrego: Amora gem from the reviews, is the better simulant as it’s whiter and cut more diamond like. That being said, i’m getting a forever brilliant moissanite because it’s cheaper and will last longer than cz. We’ll eventually trade up to a real diamond but in the meantime I will probably have the moissy a few years and am not a delicate flower! Haha. I am somewhat concerned about the yellow tinge even the FB moissanite has and the surface stain issue. There’s only been one complaint thread made about the Amora getting a similar stain.

I want to get an AG a-band one day, so that I’ll have one of each, stack them together, and enjoy the comparison sparklies.

trtrego: I chose a AG for my engagement ring (it’s in the process of being set) I learned about it from reading threads on here and I WAS looking into moissanite before I learned about ag. I don’t have a moissanite but I am very color sensitive and didn’t like the moodiness of the moissanite, I LOVE where moissanite came from though !

I had a forever brilliant OEC moissanite and it was a gorgeous stone but i decided it wasn’t for me as far as my engagement ring. I Now have an amora gem ultra and I love it so much more than my moissy and my diamonds! Go for the amora gem, you won’t be dissapointed!!

I have an Amora Gem. It’s beautiful – no yellow at all. I’ve never had a moissanite ring so I can’t speak to those, but I chose the Amora due to the strong reviews and the look of it. I think the AG’s are a little bit more expensive but I didn’t really factor that in since they were still way below the budget we initially set for a diamond! I’m sure whatever you pick will be beautiful.

Arae83: that was my thing too. We saved a lot of our diamond budget by going with the ag. It was nice to be able to chose ANY carat size I wanted and have money left over to go back in the forever home fund πŸ™‚

Ok, I’m confused. Please correct me if I’m wrong:

 • Asha=fancy CZ
 • moissanite=lab created space diamond
 • Amora gem=fancy more expensive moissanite
 • Amora Gem Ultra=fancy more expensive Amora

βœ“ Asha=fancy CZ – Yup
moissanite=lab created space diamond – Nope, not a diamond, diamond is 100% carbon, moissanite is 50% carbon, 50% silicon. It occurs in over 200+ different types, with colors ranging from green, brown, red, yellow, and white/colorless (kind of like sapphire!) I love the connection to space though, as one of the more famous discoveries was deposits found in a metiorite.
βœ“ Amora gem=fancy more expensive moissanite – To an extent, it is a different form of SiC, grown by a different company than the one that produces moissanite. Yes, the AG is more expensive, as there was a lot more research and design that went in to it, and the type of SiC it is made from is much harder to grow, increasing the cost.
Amora Gem Ultra=fancy more expensive Amora – The “ultra” was just a tweak to the cut of the Hearts and Arrow’s round brilliant stone, not more expensive than any other Amora, but is the only one being produced at this time.
I hope that helps! The options are starting to become overwhelming. πŸ˜€

finnrose: you may find this interesting, it’s inside the factory makiing FB moissanite

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rkFSwZmpgs

info on moissanite from GIA: http://www.gia.edu/gems-gemology/summer-2014-gemnews-moissanite-crystals-israel..

Moissanite is very tiny (crumb size- 0.08 of an inch!) and very colorful and pretty in it’s natural state (before it’s changed to make it look more like a diamond) if any large moissanite is ever discovered and kept in its natural state, think it would make a gorgeous ring!
