I had asked a question about the mods/hostesses being missing in one of the threads discussing deletion policies, but it’s because I was curious about their input, as well.  I think it would be cool to have a discussion and throw ideas around, including the hostesses/mods since they are participants in the community.  That’s pretty much why I asked why they weren’t commenting, in case it didn’t come across properly the first time I mentioned it.

wow, just wow…I guess people missed part of the threads where “mods” was being used as a blanket term for the “powers that be” and not specifically towards the volunteer moderators of WB…..

@CarmelFudgery:  It was clearly said in several of the threads by Penguin and some of the other members of the boards that Penguin had asked the mods and hostesses to stay out of the threads and not comment on it. Also, it was not only announced in a sticky thread, but it was reiterated that Bakerella had stepped down as Community Coordinator and that there was a still a vacancy for the position since the budget needed to be approved. Just saying.

That being said, I know that I really appreciate the hard work and sacrifices that the moderation team makes to make this such a wonderful community!!

@finnaroo:  “This really seems to have been an impossible situation, with no good, clear, easy solutions”

I agree.  And it sucks that the mods were harassed for things that they had zero involvement in.

I think the volunteers here at WB do a great job!

I 100% respect and appreciate all the hard work you mods and admins have to do – and all the shenanigans you put up with!  Thank you so much for helping this community stay the nice, welcoming place it is.  Thanks!!!

Thanks to everyone who helps run and moderate the site and keep it a nice, friendly community!

The drama this weekend really did get out of hand and arose in the most inoportune time and I know from real life experience that sometimes there is no protocol or procedure to follow and shit happens and you deal with it as best you can at the time, even if the way you deal with it blows up in your face or isn’t satisfactory to everyone involved.  I believe this was certainly not precedented and I don’t know anyone who would have handled it “better,” maybe just differently, but there was really no right answer.  Hopefully the policies are reviewed and amended, if need be, and the drama llama is kept at bay.

I enjoy this community and all the lovely bees and don’t think I insulted or offended anyone this weekend, but if I did – sorry!  Thanks for all the hard work everyone!

@takemyhand:  Not specifically directed at you, but I talk to mandypop off the Bee and she asked me to pass along a message.

She just wanted to make it clear that she did NOT leave because of anything going on with the mods, but because she was receiving harrassing messages on the Bee.

Exactly. This apology is very nice but I’m think most folks had no idea of the distinctions between admin/mod/hostess/etc. Just frustrated in general no matter who was “supposed to be handling things” at the end of the day. Seems like semantics.
