- Wedding: August 2012
Shortly after our ceremony while we were greeting guests in the recieving line, one of my friends came up to me and said “I think you have a wedding crasher,” and pointed to an elderly woman with a walker. The only reason she knew the lady wasn’t invited is because she heard her ask “do they do this every week?” Apparently the lady had wondered out of a retirement home nearby and made her way upstairs to the ceremony. My favorite part is that she chose an aisle seat! Luckily my wonderful planner was right on it. She immediately came to me and said “don’t worry, I’ll handle it.” She called all of the retirement homes in the area, found the right one, and had the lady picked up.
The lady ended up being in several photos, which is fine with me. I laugh to myself a little every time I see them.
I bought this adorable blue garter on Etsy. Unfortunately, I forgot to put it on and left the hotel without it. I only noticed I wasn’t wearing it a few seconds before Darling Husband was supposed to retrieve it from under my gown. Luckily, one of my bridesmaids came to the rescue by creating a makeshift garter out of a piece of lace she took from my DIY backdrop.
One of the ultimate highlights of the reception for me was the crowdsurfing. Yes, that’s right, CROWDSURFING. Darling Husband and I love going to rock concerts, so our guests thought it would be fun to pick us up and move us above the dance floor. It was so much fun! We didn’t get any pictures of the crowdsurfing, but I don’t think we wil ever forget it 😉
