In July 2008 my fiance and I took an all-inclusive trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Our flight was leaving at 6am from Detroit (which is about a 2.5 hour drive from where we live). I had to work until midnight the night before we left so when I got out of work I showered, finished packing and we made the drive to Detroit. After almost missing our plane in Atlanta due to sitting on the runway forever, we finally made it to the Dominican at 3pm. At this point in time I had be awake for almost 36 hours and I was a little cranky. We had to wait for our luggage for over an hour and it was extremely hot at the airport. Because of the fact that I was sleep deprived, hot, hungry, and sick of sitting around and waiting, my fiance and I were not getting along the best. I don’t even remember what we were fighting about because now that I look back on it, it was silly. After we got to our room we settled in, showered and then went to go get dinner and check out the resort. We got back to our hotel room at about 9pm and I was so tired. All I wanted to do was go to bed but my fiance kept insisting that we take a walk on the beach. I was a little reluctant to go because I could barely keep my eyes open but I went anyway because I knew our time in the "tropical paradise" was limited. So we walked to the beach and layed on some lounge chairs and just listened to the waves and looked at the stars. Originally we were laying on the same lounge chair, then out of nowhere my fiance got up and moved to the another chair. I got mad at him because I thought he didn’t want to lay by me anymore (I later found ou the reason he got up was because he was trying to get the ring out of his pocket). So there we are, laying on seperate chairs, staring up at the sky. Then I said to him "isn’t this perfect?" Next thing I know, I looked over and he is down on one knee and said to me "It would be more perfect if you would be my wife." It was instant tears 🙂 After he proposed he told me he was nervous all day because I was so cranky all day, but he knew he wanted to do it on the first night we were there because he said he knew it would make our vacation even better.
And that’s my story. After 6 years I finally got my ring 🙂
Does anyone have any proposal stories to share? I love hearing them!
This pictures I posted are of our room and of the beach he proposed on.

Awww such a great story!!!! Congrats!!! When are you planning on getting married? Do you have pictures of your ring?
This is our story!!
Every year we go into Boston and go out to a fancy dinner for our yearly anniversaries. This year we had to celebrate it late because he was in Houston on our real anniversary. so weeks before July 3rd (when we were planning on celebrating our anniversary) he sent me a box in the mail and told me I can’t open it until he gets home (revenge cause thats what I always do to him haha). July 3rd came and i was having a really bad day..bad hair day, bad day at work, just all around bad day. I got to Rich’s after a chaotic afternoon of frustrations and we were on our way into Boston when he mentioned that I could now open my box. I open it and it was a bunch of candy ring pop’s and he joked that I should wear one as a joke to his cookout that was going on the next day for the 4th. I said "I’m not starting that haha" We got into Boston’s North End and was walking around the harbor, where we went on our first date, and we sat down on a bench. He asked again that I should wear one of the candy ring pops as a joke!! "I was like are you crazy! I’m not starting that with our families!!" He then said "Well if you won’t wear the fake one, maybe you will wear the real one" and thats when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! 🙂

Thanks everyone! 🙂
Tennis-you’re story is so sweet! It was very original, he did a great job!
And as for a picture of my ring, well, here’s the story…The ring he originally proprosed with was beautiful, but I COULD NOT find a band to go with it. I tried so many on and I just wasn’t satified with anything. So we ended up selling my original ring and then ordered a new ring that was a set with the wedding band and I am currently waiting for it to come it. I felt bad about it originally but my fiance said that he wasn’t hurt or upset, he wanted me to love it. I hope I’m not the only girl in the world who has done this before 😉

So sweet… my story is similar, but he did it on the last night of vacation, he had time to plan the spot, and arrange some friends to be on hand with the camera at the perfect sunset moment. Congratulations!
