As I was reading through the blogs, I came across a post about Black Friday and how a lot of girls are talking about trying to get their wedding bands that day on some huge discount! I thought this was just about the most brilliant thing EVER! So I mentioned it to the Boyfriend or Best Friend. He said that it was a great idea.
So later on, we are chatting online and I say “OK, I will go find an engagement ring on Black Friday!” And he says ” I *think* I’ll have the day off.”
I’m not one to get super exicted, but I about squeed (you know, the noise you make when you see cute little baby animals) in the newsroom at work! 😀

@In the media: Australian here …What is Black Friday?

@Sesame Snap: The day after Thanksgiving in America where almost all the retailers start their Christmas holiday kickoff by having massive sales! We get up at 4am just to catch the early bird sales.
To the OP: Sounds promising! Good luck!

I told Boyfriend or Best Friend we should get a ring then too! We live in Canada though haha so we’d have to plan a big trip to make it down there. We’ve been shopping this week though and are going to go again next week on his day off, I seriously think after that time we’ll be decided and he’ll be ordering. I’m so excited because previously he’d kid that he wasn’t planning on proposing for at least 5 more years, YA RIGHT!
Here’s hoping sooner rather than later for both of us! Good luck with your shopping trip!

@MrsSawyer: Yeah, Boyfriend or Best Friend will joke about not proposing for 16 years. Yeah, 16!
Oh, plan a trip anyways! Tell him that’s what you want for the holidays! A trip to pick out jewelry…plus it doesn’t hurt to always look at pretty, shiny things!
@Sesame Snap: Sorry, I forget they are international bees here. But as Tatoo said, big sales on EVERYTHING. Toys, clothes, games, shoes, knives, pottery, underwear, TVs. If it is a big ticket item, you bet it is on sale. I included smaller thigns in my description just to prove that it really is EVERYTHING.

Just got a card for a 20% off sale from Nov 18-20 at the place where they have my ring for a great price already. He knows the place. He knows the ring.
Trying to figure out if leaving the discount card out for him to see (which he won’t see unless I say something) will violate my Xmas Challenge. I know it will but IT’S 20% OFF!!!!!!! (whimper)

@In the media: @Miss Tattoo: Ooooh how exciting. The big shops here are starting their pre-Christmas sales, lots of bargains to be had. Even if you don’t get your ring, maybe you can get some cheap shoes!

I’m Canadian, so we don’t have a Black Friday here. However, if J is smart, he’ll hop the border while at work (he works in Niagara Falls) and take advantage of the sales. OR if he’s wise, he’ll take notice of all the jewellry stores starting their 20% off sales… No payments, no interest, until the year 2012.
It’s so darn simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just do your research!!!! (sorry, just talking to myself now, lol)

@In the media: Maybe you should look at rings before Black Friday. . .A lot of jewelery sales people will gladly give you their card with the ring info and for the most part are open about telling you when their next sale is. This way you could have it all picked out and have an idea of what the discount may be.
I went browsing about a month before Mother’s Day, and most sales associates told me that they would be having a sale the weekend before Mother’s Day and informed me of what promotions they would be running.
