I have been a long time lurker on this site in my waiting days (agonizing as they were) but now that I’m engaged I’m becoming a full fledged memeber. YAY!
My first question is this. I am planning on having a dress made. I hear dressilyme.com is one of the places to go for this. Its on older style that I can’t find anymore so I am going to just have it made.
Anywho on to my questions. With this dress:
would you recommend pearls or blue topaz jewelry? Blue topaz is my birthstone, but I’m wondering if that is just too much blue. I know the dress is a little bit “victorian garden party” but I love it and a little bit of victorian is what I’m going for.
Here are some jewelry ideas I was thinking:
I know that last one is out of stock I just like the style.
Or just a standard strand of white pearls and some earrings.
I’m not too concerned with price at this point as I am just gathering ideas, but if you have any suggestions that would be wonderful.
Thank you ladies in advance.

I like the idea of doing crystal jewelry similar to what the model is wearing. I think pearls look best with white dresses, since the colors match. I think the topaz jewelry isn’t the right shade of blue for the dress. In my opinion, it would look best to do silver and crystals since they are neutral colored.

I don’t really care for crystal jewelry though. Not that it isn’t pretty just not really something I like all that much if that makes sense.
thanks for the suggestion though 🙂

Ok, first of all… beautiful dress. 🙂 Really unique and romantic.
Second, I’d go with pearls or CZ jewelry. Because I do think it’d be a little too much blue to go topaz (too matchy) – just my opinion though!
Congrats on the engagement! 🙂

Thank you. I’m leaning more towards pearls, I just love blue topaz too :P. I have a jewelry problem…

That dress is just amazing. I like the Victorian idea- are you going to wear a veil or any kind of head piece with that? Just wondering.
I would definitely go with the pearls with that dress, I do think the blue topaz would be too matchy. I also thought that traditional amber-colored topaz or citrine would go beautifully with the dress. I think it would contrast well with that tone of blue, and give a really unique, but regal feel to it, while still being understated.

Yes I was planning on wearing a veil. not sure what yet but I really want a cathedral length lace one. Probably not going to work with the back but I’m not afraid to go all out. Can you be OTT and romantic at the same time 😛
I never thought of citrine. I already have some citrine pieces. I should see what they look like with the swatch I have 🙂
