- Wedding: September 2012
I have had some roadblocks in my wedding planning… without going into too much detail, I made a huge mistake in “dismissing” one of my bridesmaids. I have since reinstated her as a “flower maiden” since I didn’t have a flower girl…. but I just can’t seem to wrap my head around having her as a grown up flower girl.
So, I decided to forego EVERYTHING and make up my own title for her…. “Luck Sprite”. She will be wearing a hunter green dress in the same style as my BMs, and will carry some form of bouquet with charms in it. She is also going to give my mom and my mom-in-law a rose. I am Wiccan and the ceremony has more Christian to it than anything (which I am not too crazy about, but both our parents are Christian), so I thought by incorporating an aspect of my religion in a fairly unobtrusive way, I could have satisfy my desire to have my faith in my ceremony. (My Fiance does not want to have a handfasting and I don’t want the ceremony to last more than 45 minutes.
Now my Fiance tells me he wants his little niece to be a flower girl… So I did some research and have decided to have her carry a bell down the aisle (as a Bell Ringer) and walk down with her brother (who is our ring bearer).
So…. a sum-up of my wedding is this:
-1 Maid/Matron of Honor
-1 “luck sprite”
-1 ring bearer
-1 bell ringer
Am I being too unusual/different? I believe the ceremony should concentrate on the union of me and my Fiance, with certain aspects that enforce the legality of it in our respective faiths, but I don’t want people to be concentrating on why I have these new “roles” in my attendants…
