So I went off today with a mission: figure out if I want a ballgown or a mermaid.
I went to three stores this morning. I tried on several lace ballgowns similar to the Reem Acra Best Wishes that was my first love. None were doing it for me. I was just so overwhelmed, so DONE with the whole process. My budget was up to $2K, and all the ballgowns at that price point were cheap-looking to me. I wanted tulle or lace, and the tulle used looked like prom dress material. I thought “I will never find something that makes me happy.”
I called the fancy bridal salon where I bought my veil and planned to go by to check out samples they had for sale. I walked in and pulled 3 Reem Acra silk ballgowns off the sample rack (all priced between $1500-2500). They were beautiful, and stunning, but they were too stiff. Too formal for me. I made puppy dog sad eyes at my fabulous attendant and told her The Drama Of The Best Wishes Dress.
She paused. She got a look in her eye. She said “I’ll be right back.”
She came back with the most exquisite tulle and lace Reem ballgown I’ve ever seen. “This is from the same collection, the same season as Best Wishes. It’s the sister dress. This technically isn’t marked as a sample, but I’ll sell it to you as one….. for 40% off.”
Signed, sealed, and (almost) delivered, here I am in the Reem Acra tulle ballgown I was meant to wear all along. Thanks so much to Julian Gold in San Antonio for making my dreams come true.
