I think it depends where you live and the company.

I budgeted $500, but then my Fiance said it would be at least $1,000. We ended up finding one for $800. Under our new budget, at least.

Most that I have seen in the philadelphia/tri-state area were about the price you quoted. however, the DJ i booked was only $650 for a 6 hour reception.

Depends on your location. Ours is $1200, which includes uplighting, and music from 3pm to 1am.

Ours was CHEAAAAP. $500, all day, no limits, some lights, plays whatever we want. In my area, its around 1000-1500 average, i’d say

Depends what you want.  We have a DJ for the whole reception for $550.  That’s just music and a microphone though. No extra lighting or MC charges

1k was the cheapest I found, but we didnt really like her.  We ended up paying 1400 for a guy we thought was pretty cool.  That included acoustic guitar for ceremony and cocktail hour too.

There is no average. You have to shop around in your area to see what the best rate is. The prices listed above will not apply to you since this is an international board.

Depends on your area…  check a few different prices to get an idea of how much is average in your area…  mine is $500, for dinner music and dancing (but my wedding is in the middle of nowhere….. 😛 )

Man and I thought DJs around here were expensize. Ours will be $700 for 5 hours with some lighting, we are not having ceremony music though-using ipad and speakers. They averaged here around $600/4hrs with $100/+hr and most have some sort of lighting included.

I’m meeting with ours tonight (one more thing off the list!) and he is about $800 for 5 hours, including ceremony, cocktail and reception. Lighting is included, as well, but I have to ask what all that entails.
