I posted this on the waiting boards as well, but figured it belonged here, too:
Hey everyone!! HE PROPOSED!!!!!! Pictures of the ring will have to happen later as I have to find my camera–and the one on my phone does not work. BUT I love it.
So in a previous post I mentioned this past Saturday was our 5th anniversary. I suspected it may happen, but I was not getting my hopes up. I desperately wanted to go to the zoo– I had very nostalgic memories–so he took me and I thought it was weird that when we drove into the parking lot he said “Damn. It is really crowded today”… “yes, dear, it is summer and it is the zoo” haha…why would there NOT be a lot of people?? Turns out he was nervous about the possibility that a bunch of people would be seeing him propose… We had only been there for about 30 minutes or so before I had to make a comment about needing food–I was getting hungry. We walked by a concession stand and he asked me if I wanted something. We got a pretzel and lemonade and sat down in what used to be a bear exhibit. Now, it is a secluded little picnic area –and it was shady, which was a plus. We sat down and people-watched while we talked a little bit. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him digging in his wallet. He was struggling with something and I was looking at him like he was crazy…was he getting change out? Then all of a sudden he slid off the bench, got down on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?” I had pretzel in my mouth so it took me a second to answer, but of course I said yes and gave him a big hug and a kiss. I was super impressed, because I was unsure that he was the drop to one knee type. But he did and it was sweet. My favorite part of the whole ordeal was a few seconds later when we were talking about the multitude of ways he had thought about asking and he said “yeah…I figured I better just get off my a$$ and do it. ” I about died laughing. BUT that is my SO (wait, edit: FI!!!!!!!) . : ) We have had a great weekend talking about venues and plans–he is just as excited as me. I even found out he has been doing some secret pre-planning, too. So I was not the only loser who was secretly looking up dates and venues and catering haha
Sidenote: He was so nervous he didn’t even hear me say yes–later he had to ask me and confirm that I had actually said it. haha
