- Wedding: September 2011
Ok so really it began September of last year. I was a bride to be that was on the ball the minute the ring was on my finger. As soon as I said yes I had appointments with photographers, venues and bridal dress shops. Luckily for me I made some early decisions that I’m still happy with. However, too much too early really is just that TOO much. I quickly became burned out with picking and choosing, color combos and glass wear. My fiancé made fun of me because he said I already had the whole wedding planned. I would quickly become upset and almost embarrassed. After all a venue and a photographer only provide the shell of the wedding and well…someone to take pictures of it. He then reminded me of the favor boxes I purchased (still undecorated), the Cricut cutting machine I bought for special projects (yeah right! who has time??) etc. etc. I thought I wanted to do this all by myself. I was wrong. School work, a fiancé and full time job have quickly burned my wick to the end. As I approach the end stretch (a little less than 5 months to go) I’m eating my own words. The shell of a venue needs to be filled with wedding delights, honeymoon unbooked, invites un-picked (is that a word lol), cake baker undecided and my color choices are still pending make any further decisions next to impossible. How could I be so organized and ahead of the game at first and now I feel like the slow kid on the track team?? Many lessons have been learned here but unfortunately I will not benefit from them… Long story short:
1. Involve your fiancé. The things you don’t want his help on…he doesn’t want to help with either. The things he does, you may be surprised at the creativity they are capable of.
2. Wedding checklists divide tasks out for a reason. As excited as you may be at first hold off a little, follow the timeline and you will have nothing to worry about.
3. Enjoy every minute! Being a bride is a once in a lifetime opportunity (sometimes more wink wink) and you should feel special every step of the way! Don’t stress…enjoy <3
